It was hard to get gauge (worsted on 4mm needles sounds like it'd be really stiff, too) and somehow the yarn being that little bit paler in reality just didn't look great to me.
I get it.. with my limited knowledge.

Is that the start of the new pattern you found yesterday?
Yes!
You know the funny thing? I had tried it before, five years ago, and completely forgotten about it. I've pictures of Maddie modelling it in Queensland. I frogged it after finding my stitch count was wrong on the very first row of the cables. At least that's a warning! Not sorry I frogged it - this colour is much nicer and will work better with grey hair.

Oh I have missed so much! The new denim blue tweed yarn and project, the mitts and crocheted cats, and others! Had major surgery and out of the loop for a while. Slowly getting back.
I love knitting top down sweaters(jumpers) but big projects are on hold right now.
Thought I would try socks by another new-to-me method.. Magic Loop. I like it and the ribbing is going smoothly, but when I get to the gusset I know I will be challenged. I usually use dpn sock needles, but it is time for something new.
(GUSSET is my 1 and only cuss word)
Had to have a Cat Lady come in for litterboxes and feedings. The 2 definitely know when their Mom is not feeling well and are gentle and love to cuddle.
If you are in need of help as a single older cat mom as you mend from surgery, go for it.

My first pair of socks was Magic Loop, I took a class and I liked it. The way they did the heel in the class was waaayyy beyond me, I just couldn't get it, was so frustrating. I watched YouTube videos and found another method that I could do. My second pair went fine. I'm going to try Vanilla Socks by Crazy Sock Lady next and see how that goes.

I cannot get the crazy sock lady because she knits left handed and i get confused. Her vanilla sock pattern is a great template fpr any sock, though i am told. I am using several sections from different tutorials. It takes a while to find the right one for me being a visual learner. Some things I have to consider are : too much manipulation and unnecessory hand movement, too much talking, unnecessary music in the background, and camera not brought in close enough. I hope to compleat the cuff today.

Major surgery! I didn't know, and am very glad to hear you're home and healing.
I use Magic Loop for cuffs or berets when I'm knitting in the round. Gets awkward (you need really flexible cables on the circular needles) but I tried DPNs once and would never use them again! 😄

I really like that denim tweed! And I love the definition you get with no gaps in the basket weave stitch.
I'm really liking the denim tweed too, it's a nicer shade than I expected. It's impressive that the basket weave is as snug as it is - I'm working DK yarn on 5mm needles (US 8) so you'd think it might be looser. It'll stretch with wear, of course, but I don't want it to be a super cold weather jumper.
