Hi everyone, I don’t know if this is the place to post this, but I need help. I got my kitten 3 weeks ago and things have been normal, but he has recently started to try to pass poop, but instead a viscous jelly will come out instead. I’ve attached photos of it below. I’ve scheduled a vet appointment for Monday (soonest I can get one), but I’m wondering if I should go to the emergency vet or if anyone knows what this is. I’m so scared for my little guy, but he’s been acting totally normally. Please help!

How long has it been since he has actually passed some stool? If he is still able to poop, then you can probably wait until your appointment. If not, then I would take him to emergency, or possibly urgent care. ( they do actually have urgent cares for animals in some areas - they do in mine)

I second mrsgreenjeens mrsgreenjeens 's thought about urgent care. We have an urgent care clinic where I live, too, and we've gone a couple times -- it's a very good place to treat problems like this one.

strangemagic strangemagic is there any chance your kitten ate something he shouldn't have? The jelly you mention reminds me of when one of our cats apparently ate part of a plant: she had diarrhea and then a gloppy sort of jelly. (Though no blood.)

What are you feeding him? Does he get wet food as well as dry food? Sometimes if the stool is difficult to pass, this will happen.
