His foster and the rescue say he's "around 2" (as in "the terrible 2s) and I just refer to him as "a teenage kittencat"(as in, "Oh no, Fluffy! WHAT did you knock over NOW???")

Awww, thanks, neely ! Yes, he is truly magnificent. He's pure black -- no white at all! and he had me from first sight.

I kind of wish they could stay 2and 3- so young,their strongest and healthiest years

I can't believe my little Max is already 3(actually he's the biggest of them all)..No more babies

Three is still quite young. Hopefully Max will be strong and healthy for many years.
How well I know that feeling. The cats with whom I've shared my life have generally been healthy and long-lived; sweet angel Elvis was healthy until this summer and left us on August 30 with vet assistance. He was between 17 and 18. My spiritual beliefs are such that I know we wll be together in due time, in a MUCH better place than this one has become! but I miss him, and all of my beloved ones who are up there watching, more than words could ever convey.
