Black Cats Are Not Bad Luck!

McDonald's has an ad depicting black cats as bad luck. Black cats face enough problems without a huge corporation helping to further that stupid idea. I've created a petition asking McDonald's to take down their ad.

The whole thing with black cats is sad. I was in Petsmart recently and they had several half grown kittens for adoption. All of them were either black or tuxedo. They were all at the front of the cages 'talking' to me. I had one of my senior cats PTS this past January and I am not going to put my other senior lady through getting used to another cat so I couldn't take one. I wish I could.

Really sad. Other countries think black cats are good luck and are given as wedding gifts. It's just silly really- to unfairly put assumptions about traits . There's a little extra work involved in getting the black kitties adopted (like the foster kitten in my avatar). She was shy and completely black. That's a bad combination for adoption potential.

Thankfully she did get a home and seems to be getting pampered. Our shelter even got a nice little video of her and her sibling playing.

I signed the petition but it'd be nice if there was a space for comments like change.org has.

Black cats are very beautiful; and they are not bad luck! The black cats that I've been around in my lifetime have all been very sweet and gentle kitties, especially my Henri.
I'll have to boycott McDonalds now, not that I ever eat their food anyways!

I actually want a little black kitten when I'm ready for another cat. I love black cats. My beautiful Inky was gorgeous and took part of my heart with him when he died. So was my mom's cat Emerald who became mine after my mom died. She was gorgeous and so loving.
Can't forget my sweet gorgeous tuxedo.Mandy. She loved nail trims and was a gentle giant. I've seen kittens recently but no black ones.

Thanks for posting this. I just signed the petition. It infurates me that a company like McDonald's would continue to extend a stupid belief like this. I have three black cats. All three of them have been the victims of stupid people who believed black cats are bad luck. This just makes me so mad.
