I have no idea really how to bathe Fluffy, we've just hopped into the tub together and I've always bathed him while he lay on my chest.

Fluffy hasn't really had any reason for baths except when he had a bout of fleas, so he seldom goes into the tub.

Any suggestions of how to bathe him without getting in there with him?

Why would you bathe him? Does he go outside? There is really no need to bathe a cat IMHO..... Unless it gets something on its fur, or in case of a show cat, cats know how to keep themselves clean so you don't need to do it for them.

When he does go outside, he rolls around on the patio and it's dirty.

He doesn't need a bath right now, I'm just exploring options on how to do this in the future without having to get in there with him when he does need a bath.

He doesn't go outside often though, so this is a rare occurrence.
