I think so too, he doesn’t look as dark as the bengals I’ve seen before. He doesn’t look like a regular tabby though. I don’t know much about the bengal breed, so wasn’t sure. We have a domestic long hair and a Russian blue. Why do you think he’s a mix? The white chin?

I'd say a tabby. There aren't distinct rosettes.

The question is, mackerel tabby or spotted tabby? I think he can be said to be spotted tabby...

PS. the coloring isnt the most common for domestic tabbies, so he perhaps HAS some Ancestry... But OF sp. it is some generations back.
Count him as a domestic tabby, its the most honest and straight.

There IS such an animal as a spotted bengal, ie without rosettes, but with more common spots. I have myself seen one a such on a Show... He probably wont win any prize rosettes (!) but he is allowed to participate as a purebred bengal.

That said, this young man is almost surely a non bengal domestic tabby whom we politely will say is a spotted tabby.

Spotted tabby.

If he`s already been neutered, vaccinated, blood tested for FIV and FeLV and the fee they are asking for him is around about what it would cost to have all of this done, then I`d get him.

If he hasn`t had all of his initial vet care done already or they are asking hundreds of pounds for him, they`re being a bit cheeky.

;)

He is a beauty 😁 I would say he is a dsh spotted tabby, but may he have some bengal, his head is smaller in proportion to his body and his ears are rounded but are a bit too close together. I love his spots pattern, in one photo they look a little rosettish and those can develop over time. His color, pattern and eyes etc. are gorgeous. He is only four months so his pattern can change a lot as he grows.

Thanks for all your help everyone! I think domestic tabby, but a particularly nice one! He’s very cheap, so I was skeptical. Haven’t heard back yet, so may already be taken anyway.

Your cat is a twin to mine whom I have resorted to calling her just a 'Tabby". There are spots, but yet there are also stripes and sometimes the spots look like they are forming stripes!!!!! (not my avatar) Yep...they are twins! And 2 days ago I saw 2 kittens at Pet Smart who are exactly the same..(I was tempted)

I would think possibly somewhat Bengal; the belly is right, but I have noticed many Bengals have different body language than your average cat, tail tends to be down rather than upright when they move, like tigers and other big cats, and they seem (of the ones I have known) not so much stereotypical meows, more of a mew, or we called it murping. Mrrrrrrp.

Have you seen the mother and father cats? If they are Bengal then, of course, the offspring are Bengal.
If you haven't seen or if they won't show you the parents then you can't say that the kitten is Bengal unless he comes with papers.

Without that, my vote is that he's a mixed tabby: Spots and mackerel.

Regardless, you should be paying for a well-bred and cared for kitten. I agree with others. Including shots, neutering and other vet bills, decide what is a fair price. If you think it's right, go for it! :)
