Behavior question

So this isn't really a serious question.  More of a "Why the heck does my cat do that " question.  

I have 2 cats- Holly is 5 and Sam is 1. Both are spayed/neutered.  

Sometimes when they fight/ wrestle etc, Sam does the strangest thing.  He will back up, and stick his butt in her face.  

  I should try to get a picture b/c it is just too funny!  

Why do you think he does that?  Is it another one of those "challenging for alpha" things?  She's recently figured out how to get to the top of the cat tower we have so now they'll fight over who gets to be "up".

That really sounds like a cat thing though I haven't seen my two do it.  Kind of like a kitty version of talk to the hand.
