I recently found a stray kitten and he has such beautiful markings and colors on his coat. He looks like a tabby but as time goes on he looks more and more exotic! He’s super loving and laid back with little bursts of playfulness. He’ll ride in the car with me and cuddle in my zipped up sweater, I’ve never had a cat like this.

Any ideas?!

Very cute domestic shorthair tabby. Someone else will come along with a better name for the type of tabby coat. Nothing really exotic looking about this baby. Looks like a typical domestic tabby ;)

She is a beauty alright, I love her large ears. Do you know anything about her background?

I would describe this adorable baby as a brown tabby domestic shorthair. I would like to see a better shot of the pattern from the side, but my guess from these pictures is that it's a classic tabby pattern. Most cats are not any particular breed.

I posted another picture of the kitty from the side. He also has some spots on his belly which I haven’t seen as much of on any other tabby I’ve had.

Spots on the belly are normal for classic and mackerel tabbies; these spots do not indicate that the cat is a spotted tabby or that it has any specific breed ancestry.

Thank you for the insight! He’s an interesting cat with funny behaviors so I thought he must be something other than just a tabby haha! Thanks again.

If you have more pictures of his pattern on the side, I would be happy to give an opinion on whether it looks like a normal classic pattern, or something unusual. But it would be helpful to see the whole kitten from the side without anything blocking the view.

Tabby is just a color so that means literally nothing. A Bengal has a tabby patterned coat.

Breed doesn't determine personality in cats (and 95% are domestic shorthairs or longhairs), so you just got lucky with a kitty who has a lovely temperament!
