Ate cigarette!!!!!

Does anyone have a clue as to why my cat decided to munch one of my cigarettes? He only ate a little and then puked it back up. I haven't the slightest idea why he would eat it. He's sooooo wierd.

Your cat didn't know that it was a cigarette.

To a cat everything is either "prey" or "food". I would call your vet and tell them what happened, just to be on the safe side.

I would definitely call your vet, ingested niccotine is toxic.
Certainly keep them out of her reach in the future.

I have a strange but related question. A friend of mine recently said that if you feed an adult cat or dog (One of the two, he couldn't remember) one full cigarette (No more than one because of the toxins.) then it gets rid of worms. Is this for real?

(I personally think it's a bunch of hooey, but wanted to check.)

It will make them extremely sick, and may, or may not get rid of worms.

I do know an old gentleman who killed a litter of beagle pups doing this.
He wasn't heartless, he loved his hunting dogs, he was just ignorant.

Kitters has tried to nip at her daddys cigs before, but has never gotten one. I think the smell gets them partialy!

As weird as that may sound, yes, tobacco actually kills worms. Some animals will actually self medicate and eat the stuff to do that. The problem is, too much will also hurt your animal.

I've seen lots of wild canids eating tobacco plants, but that's probably much safer since it doesn't have all the chemicals they add when drying.

If you suspect your cat has worms, you need to visit the vet for treatment. Tobacco is toxic to cats.

He is totally fine. The little bit ingested was immediatly vomited and he hasn't been acting ill or anything.
