@AbbysMom Oh, Artie likes the dry food.. it is the best for him. I did try to get some psylium and mix a bit in with his food. It turned into a gloomy mess.

This food also has chicory root, salmon oil, and other stuff in it...it is a really a good mix for constipated cats. The issue is that it is in chicken, and does not come in a different protein source.

I have tried everything under the sun for him... adding in all that I could..
This food is his last option...

Hang in there, Darlin. He's on that kitty rollercoaster, so don't let yourself get carsick on it with him. Good that he's pooping, good that he's eating at all, and keep a relaxed but vigilant eye on the pee situation. I'm there with you, even if you can't see me.

Good Morning, Artie's Army! :salute:

Artie began eating, a tiny bit, last night, around 7pm. I did not make a big deal of it. I just let him go, at his own speed. As far as his not being interactive; I just kept going over to him, petting him, and telling him that I love him.

He ate about 3/8 of a cup of food.

He was on my lap while I was watching TV.

Again, just before bed, Artie pooped 7 inches!! thick stuff. He waits until I am getting ready for bed!!

Last night, he came into the kitchen, as I was getting his food for the night. He came up to me, gave me his little grumpy mewofh..(his poopy voice)... then left. I went over to see where he went. He was waiting for me outside his bathroom doorway. As soon as he saw me, he went into his litter box, and started digging... and pooped.. He seems to always have a piece stuck.. it does not all fall off.. I have to wipe it off, or it falls off when he jumps out of the box.

Man, have we trained each other!

Artie woke me up this morning; actually, I was up. I did not sleep well. I am holding off on getting a new mattress..sigh

He came over, meowed in my ear, and waited for me to get up.

I noticed that I forgot to shut the cover to the toilet..sigh.. I think Artie was drinking out of it...:bawling2:

He did vomit a bit of foam when I got up... no pee in the box.. that is really strange. not much pee yesterday..:confused2::confused2::confused2: still giving him 100 cc sub-q's daily..

No food today.. as of yet...:cringe::cringe::cringe::cringe::cringe::cringe:

LTS3 LTS3 I am apprehensive to give him Forti-flora. It has chicken in it. I do not not want to overdue it with chicken, because of his allergy to it.. If I remember correctly, it states meat by-products or such... who knows what that really means...

I do have an appetite stimulant for him. I use it quite often. I am not using it now, because I do not want him to get accustomed to it, or to get into the serotonin syndrome. He is very sensitive to even Cyproheptadine. It makes him a bit crazed, after 5 continuous doses.

NVet told me to give him one dose, daily, as needed. I am going to see how today goes.
:sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh::sigh:

Right now, I have the windows, and the balcony door open. Artie is sunning himself. sweet baby.

What a sweet-faced little suncatcher Artie is! Well, your reported started out well, for which I'm sure we are all glad. I don't recall if you have said anything about B12, but I know it really helped my Sun with is energy and his appetite. He got his in injections from our wonderful vet.

*PRAYERS* and hope for the rest of the day/evening/night to go well for you and Artie!

And IDK what you're thinking, but I do know IKEA has very nice mattresses of all types and sizes at good prices. I have one and I love it.

I was out of the house for over 4 hours. Artie did not eat anything. He did pee just a bit.. sigh.. I am praying we are not having kidney issues...

I gave him a Cerenia, just in case... of course all of this happens on the week-end when the specialist is not in...sigh

Wouldn't you know it.. now, when I just bought a bag of food for him. I think I have enough until Wed or Thursday, but I did not want to cut it short. I got it at my regular Vet's instead of going into Boston for it. They only had 2 bags. I think they get the delivery in on Thursdays?? but not sure. I do not know if it is a big seller in there. I think a lot of people do buy food through Chewy, and they are really good about sending Chewy prescriptions.

Artie did go over to the food, but walked away. Kind of suspicious of a flare, because he vomited foam this morning; as he did the last time...sigh :sniffle::sniffle::sniffle::sniffle:

So I am doing tuff love... until Monday..

It is also so unbelievably hot outside. Even though the AC is set for 71 degrees, I wonder if the heat/humidity can effect Artie. I know it still effected my dad... weird..

Of course humidity can affect Artie, how could it not? As can barometric pressure, thunderstorms, just about everything weather, even inside with air conditioning (or heating in the winter).

My three, and other beloveds in the past, have always done what I call food striking on hot days. Sometimes they eat a little; other times, it seems they are not eating at all (though they do -- it would be cause for concern if they didn't). As long as Artie is drinking water, eating something, and eliminating, he is doing well and he will eat more when the weather is better and/or he decides to. ;):winkcat:

My, my, Artie is a very handsome fella. He looks content in the pictures you posted, tired but content. How old is Artie?
Hopefully when the weather cools, in the evening, he'll eat some. I used to have one of those granite tiles that they sold at pet stores for chinchillas. It's cooler than room temperature and the cats loved it.

Artie did not poop yesterday... sigh...and nothing during the night or this morning.
He tried to wake me up before 5am, but I had to ignore him.

He is not eating much either.. sigh although he ate about 1/8 cup during the night..but not enough.. and he really needs to poop.

I confused as to increasing his lactulose dose, or just letting things go.. His stool gets so soft, which makes it almost impossible for him to pass it. He just does not have the nerve stimulation/muscle strength to push it out...If it is too soft, it makes things worse.

He is also not peeing as much as he normally does...sigh
Although that could be from not eating.. Since eating the dry food, his water intake has increased.. but now that he is not eating as much, he is not drinking....sigh

He is not interested in food. A lot of this is due to the fact that he is probably full of stool.
and who knows why he vomited foam yesterday morning..sigh..

I wish he could tell me what is going on...it is just a guessing game. Do I give him an appetite med? do I give him a cerenia? do I increase his lactulose?
All these questions...

His last stool was really a soft gel... almost like a gel toothpaste... is that too soft??

Artie is only getting 1-2 cc of lactulose per day.. about the same as before... however the diameter of his stool has doubled... up to 1 inch, instead of 1/2 inch...

All these questions... NVet is not in until Tuesday.. I know there is a Vet covering for him.. but he does not know Artie.

I am going to try to ignore things.. and let things be.. and see what happens..but these are just my thoughts.

Oh, BTW, he looked sleepy in the latest pictures, because he was.. he was waking up from a nap!!

Hello Army, It is the week-end and this forum is very slow.. also the summer..

Please pardon the typos, and rambling.. Artie is having another bad day... sigh

He is constipated... how can that be!!! on the Prescription Fiber Response diet!!!
I am kind of beside myself about this.. I was thinking this, but did not have confirmation of it until late this afternoon..

Artie was coaxed into the litter box. It took a while, producing only a 1/2 inch piece, which was a bit harder that it has been.....sigh....constipation... hence, not eating, hence the foamy vomit from Friday....
I really give up... I do not know what to do...

I had an idea of this, so I gave him one dose of 1cc of lactulose this morning. After seeing this, I tried to get in 3 cc late this afternoon. Before I realized this, I gave him a Cypro, and a Cerenia... neither seem to help him...

The fact is, he is not getting the appropriate dose of miralax, due to the dry food. I should have immediately started the stool softener..but I did not.. sigh.. another mistake and another expense for meds. I have the adult dose in the house; but he needs half that dose. It is gel in a capsule, so I cannot split the dose...wonder if an adult dose would hurt????I have to special order the pediatric dose for him....

I hate to say this, but I am thinking this may be his last week....I know, I am thinking negatively... but there are many reasons why I am thinking this..

The week we are in, and getting into, has notoriously been a horrendous week for me...
My mom's anniversary is today, the 22. I tripped at work and broke my arm, 5 years ago on Sunday-23, , and my parents Wedding Anniversary is on the 27th... a lot of bad memories... why not add to it?? (sarcastic).....also had a hit and run (to my car) a year ago this week.

I am venting.. and I do not expect anyone to respond..
Just not having a good day... Tomorrow, I will stay home due to the extraordinary traffic around this area....beach---SandSculpting Festival, down the other end, but still impacts the entire city...
