Any liver damage/support specific cat food available in the market?

My cat got jaundice as the anesthesia used in her c-section. on the 3rd post-op day, she started voting after she ate cat food.

her jaundice was diagnosed by the vet and she was hospitalized for 5 days. she started eating at the vet's place but only her favorite creamy treats and wouldn't vomit. but then when she came back, she started vomting after eating dry kibbles. I stopped those and started giving her wet food only. she seems to tolerate wet food but again sometimes she throws up. I dont know what on earth I should do. very worried and all the vets here say it will take time. the liver damage sub-cutaneous injection is given to her daily and ive been given oral medications which are liver tonics and acid reducers. if anyone can suggest something that can help my cat's condition b/c I feel the vets here in Pakistan just dont get it. is there any food that is like a prescription diet for liver damage?

I'm pretty sure Science Diet has something that can help your situation. I distinctly remember them having a healthy liver recipe, but that was some years ago. I don't know if it's available in Pakistan, either. It might be. Would be worth the look.

The main thing with what you are describing is that they get nourishment. Many cats with this actually have feeding tubes installed because they won't eat enough to survive. You may need to assist feed her to help out if she isn't eating enough, but I am not familiar with any foods specifically to help out the liver. Those medications should help though. LIver issues DO take time. Justmake sure she continues to eat well and get her meds. You might ask your Vet for anti-nausea medications if she is still vomiting. There are a couple available: Cerenia and Zofran.

BTW, one of my cats had liver problems way back when and was on a feeding tube for FOUR months, so that gives you an idea of how long it can take to recover.

I can't find a liver-specific food in Science Diet (It might only be available through a vet), but a sensitive stomach recipe is available.

I’ll speak to the vet about the feeding tube today. Princess(my cat) is eating and tolerating soft food and I’ve continued the medicine now regularly. Thank you so much.

I don't know what you have available there, but there is a liver protector you could ask your vet about: Zentonil Plus / Denamarin /SAMe - same things really but different names. You could ask your Vet about that. It's what mine is on and I will say it does help.

Thank you very much. The SAMe I got from the U.S was a life saver! now the cat sneezes often. the liver issue seems to have died down but now the sneezing is being treated....
