My one-year-old Raggie, Simon, is taking antibiotics for his cold. Can cats be given anything (i.e., lactobacilus--sp?) to help repopulate the good intestinal bacteria (flora) count? Just wondering if anything can/ should be done after a cat spends 3-4 days on antibiotics.

Thank you,

Jenk

You can give your cat plain yogurt. Some like it, some don't. Phoenix likes it a lot, but then again, she eats anything that is not chained down!

You can also put the cat on GSE which will kill off all the bad bacteria in the body. (Grapefruit Seed Extract)

I've had success with yoghurt as well as sprinkling lactobacillus powder on their dry food.

My vet gave mine Probiocin, a gel like stuff. It worked really well too.
