I always wanted a lap cat and hoped this would be the case this time around with mom and daughter, ages 10 mos and the other 18 mos. I got them from a shelter as florida rescues sent to massachusetts.
Both will sleep on my bed and snuggle up, but not sit on my lap. The younger just started to come to me on her own and hop up for pets, but never the mom.
Today mom hopped up onto my lap in the recliner ,gave my hand a hard love bite, stronger than she has done before, and when I didnt holler ' ouch' she settled right in. Only for a few moments, but today marks a milestone.
So if you have a female and desire her to be a lap cat, dont give up...there is hope!
