I just got back from the vet with both boys. Just for a wellness and get them in their system

Both are healthy!
Dali has been recommended to get some dental done. I'm getting a quote and see what the insurance would cover first.

She estimated Rembrandt about 5 years old, and Dali a little older at 6 years old.
I figured Dali was older than 3-4 as suggested by the shelter. He has that old cat fur and old face. He also has more teeth issues than Rembrandt which makes him older. You wouldn't know it by his personality how he'd play all day long with Rembrandt!
Which also tells me they aren't litter mates. Maybe brothers by another mother? who knows.

Is it bad that I feel sad that they are older than what I was originally told? Less years with them. But I will cherish every moment with them, and give them the best home possible in their years. No more shelters, no more crowded homes.

they both did so good at the vet. Behaved super well. Rembrandt was watching the vet's every move around Dali, such a protective brother he is.

And a bonus pic.

It's good to hear they both did well at their vet visits and they are both healthy.

AFAIK, vets usually judge a cat's age by their teeth and the amount of tartar buildup as well as eye health and joint movement.

That is so sweet! And I still have no idea how you tell them apart at a glance!
Dali is the older looking cat. His fur is shorter and scruffier and his face looks old. Rembrandt is fluffier with a more kitten face.
With that said, I get them mixed up often! Especially when it’s dark and I can’t see clearly lol
luckily they don’t seem offended when I call them by the wrong names!

19 lbs of warmth fluff!
my foot is asleep, the things we do for them! It took Dali over a month to be brave enough to climb on my lap, I don’t want to ruin the moment!
Ah yes, that delightful feeling of going numb from the weight of cat(s) on your limbs because it would be Wrong to move them!

I love that word- Lappage! lol. Im stealing it too!

I gotta figure out a 3-way separate feeding for the cats. Cassie usually eats separated in the bedroom; mostly because it's what she's used to with Monet so I didn't bother to change her routine. I usually stay in the bedroom with coffee while the boys eat in the kitchen.
I got up to check on my printer and noticed Rembrandt finished his meal and eating Dali's who wasn't half way through. Now I wonder how many times Rembrandt stole Dali's meals. I should get a slow-feeder bowl for Rembrandt to see if that helps, otherwise I gotta lure Dali into the bedroom to eat with Cassie- I know she won't steal his food.

When we first got Jakey, he was really quite food aggressive, and always was extremely greedy.
However, Sonic would not eat if he couldn't see Jakey, he'd just go and stand at the door and wail if they were separated and shut in different rooms.
So for quite a few years, when we gave their wet rations, we would feed Jakey in a dog crate and Sonic outside of the crate but in the same room, and Radar in the bedroom - that way they all got their own portion of food, Sonic wasn't distressed at not being able to see Jakey, and Jakey couldn't eat everyone else's food. Jakey didn't mind being in the crate for mealtimes, he just associated it with dinner and would happily sit in there while Sonic slowly finished his own meal, he'd also go in the crate himself when I said it was time for dindins since he knew that was where he was fed.

So there are ways around it, it's definitely easier to manage if you do set mealtimes rather than free-feeding.

Dali is the same way, he needs to be near Rembrandt. I ordered a lick mat to see if that will help.

Just catching up here.. love the door shot. 💕
Sundar always pinched Nilah's food. I ended up getting her a microchip smart feeder. She doesn't need to use it now, but she sat in front of it waiting, even if there was food out for her, so I still do.

Last night was Dali’s first time jumping on my bed to sleep with me! (I’ve picked him up and put him in the bed) AND he stayed curled up against me all night too! Previously he would jump off at lights out.

felt so nice having three cats snuggled with me all night!

Grooming time!
Wish I could post videos. Rembrandt was falling asleep sitting up while I combed him.
But here’s a pic of Dali getting his belly combed!

they sit next to each other knowing I alternate brushing in between them.

Dali didn't eat his breakfast today. He licked and walked away, but kept coming back to his dish. I offered different flavors and he didn't eat any of them.
He did throw up last night, so Im wondering maybe its nausea. Hopefully he will eat later.
He is playing, nothing amiss about him otherwise.

Mine have done this on occasion. Livie, my Pap, did it just a week or so ago and by noon she was ready to eat. Hopefully he just has a mild tummy upset that will go away on it's own.

I hope so! It has been rare that any of my cats would miss a meal, But after Monet and what he's gone through, I get nervous and start overthinking. Naturally I don't want to go through that again. Especially knowing Dali is an older cat rather than a younger cat. I'll feel better when he eats.
