Cassie will always have first dibs of me. She's the Queen of the house of course!

This morning Dali wasn't hiding at all! In fact, he jumped on the bed. I'm thrilled he's becoming more relaxed and confident after yesterday morning when he seemed terrified of me.

of course he isn't entirely there yet. He is still cautious. But he's taking steps! And he's Rembrandt's shadow. It's like Rembrandt is guiding him the way telling him it's okay. I'm really glad I didn't separate these two. I think while Rembrandt may be OK without him, Dali would not be happy at all.

She won’t let the boys any closer than this. She would hiss, and Rembrandt would protest with a hiss of his own. His hisses are so pathetic lol. But at least she is tolerating them and introduction was easy. Thankfully.

Dali is in his skittish mood again. He still needs time

I'm actually shocked that Cassie has allowed Rembrandt onto the tree already. That's pretty good IMO!!
It sounds like when the shelter said "bonded pair", they meant it. I'm glad they were able to stay together.
I had a really sick dog in 2022. My current dog was only 2 at the time, and she went everywhere with us. She adored him, and I always told my sick dog he had his very own ESA. It sounds like Rembrandt is Dali's ESA as well. :)

that’s a very good way to describe the relationship between the boys! I can see Dali relies on Rembrandt. He tends to only come to me when I’m brushing Rembrandt or playing with him. He’s really a loving mush but he still has his moments where he’s afraid of me. Rembrandt would go to him, check up on him and bring him around. If I go to Dali and he’s unsure, Rembrandt would be right there butting heads. Rembrandt never leaves Dali alone with me. At first I thought he wanted all the attention but your thoughts makes sense. ESA is a good description for them I think.

im glad your pup had another watching over him when he wasn’t feeling so well. The love was there

Thinking about changing Dali's name to Arlo. Everyone says it like "Dolly" and not "Dah-lee" and the vet wrote it as Dolly.
But I like Dali.
At the same time I did call him Arlo.
It would break the artist name tradition
I guess I should see which comes out of my mouth more often lol

I keep going back and forth! I like both names a lot. I'd prefer Dali, but it's irking me that people think its Dolly. or they have no idea who Dali is. I get asked "Which artist is Dali?" Which kind of defeats the artist trend lol

lol, Frazetta is such a cute name! I think it's fitting for a colt actually, whether it looked like the painting or not!

Dali's under the bed again. Wonder why. He was out and loving this morning. Maybe the act of me walking into the house after work scares him? I should set up cameras to see what he does all day.

I put his dinner down by the bed, and he sticks his paw out and drags the dish under the bed to eat. lol

I wanna see a video of that stealth dinner catching!!
On his name, I think anything you want to name him would be great. I do like Dali though, it's so unique and I have never (in 27+ years of pet care) met one named Dali before.
If it helps, my dogs name is Olivia, but I just call her Livie. When I tell people her name is Livie, they almost always coo "Ohh, Libby you're so pretty" or "Lilly, you're such a cutie". I just shrug it off and tell her that her name is so unique, it belongs to us and only us!

Yea I keep bouncing between Arlo and Dali lol. Dali is more unique I think.

he’s out from under the bed and playing with his toys with Rembrandt. It’s like watching hockey with them batting the mouse and stealing it from one another lol.

I wish I understood what gets him spooked to hide. It has to be me walking through the door. Takes him a few hours to come from hiding looking for pets and toys. I’m just glad to know he has the confidence, just takes time to get there.

My cats have so many pet names besides their given names, I sometimes wonder if they really know what their "real" names are!
Lila is almost always spooked by me or someone coming in the door. It's nothing for her to run for cover initially and come out almost immediately when she realizes it's safe to do so. Is your weather cold enough that you're coming inside wearing something like a heavy coat, or a hat? Do you wear shoes around the house or are shoes taken off at the door?
When Livie, my Papillon, was about 5 months old, I came inside from shoveling snow wearing a huge coat, big noisy boots, and carrying a snow shovel. She was in her pen, but she freaked. She was yelping in fright, and hitting the walls. It scared her badly because she had never heard the sound of those boots, never seen me in such a big, heavy coat (with a hood) and had never seen me carrying a shovel before.
