Since you just got the boys, stay with them while they are getting their nails done, so they'll know you aren't deserting them. That should help keep them calm and less afraid. Though they will be afraid of strangers.

I only clipped the claws on the cat who was too old to manage the scratching posts or chewing her nails herself. when the others were clipped despite the affection showered on them, they made it their mission to sharpen the remaining half claws until they were points. that did the sofa no good at all.

Have you thought of getting a couple of styles of scratching posts? Mine always liked the ones that were flat on the floor, or flat enough for them to stand on to scratch. One was known as our banister. But if they like that, you can tie a small rug to the banister and it makes an excellent scratching post.

If the groomers will let me be in the room with them, I will be there for sure! They are people cats, but I'm sure being at a groomer will be scary regardless. I'd rather them be afraid of the groomers than me! I need time to work with their paws to show them I won't hurt them.
I don't think they've ever had a claw trim in their lives, which is why I decided to take them to a groomer rather than fighting them myself. the claws are razor sharp, it's getting caught on their toys and blankets.

They do have sistle scratchers and flat cardboard scratchers (Cassie loves the flat ones). A tall tower condo is coming tomorrow with additional scratchers too. Though, I haven't witnessed any of them using them. It's almost like they have no idea what to do with them. Rembrandt is using the cardboard one as a bed, lol.

The boys did good at the groomers! Dali did get scared at one point when a dog barked. But thankfully their claws are done and I can start working on them getting used to me touching their feet

I`m glad to hear the groomers wasn`t so bad. I have a couple of those cardboard scratchers for cats, the horizontal ones always get used as beds. Cardboard is a great insulator and must feel very warm to lie on.

Mine don`t really like having their claws trimmed, but if I can do one claw a day and remember which toe I`m up to next time I can usually get all four paws done without too much fuss.

They like to use the cardboard scratchers as a bed for sure lol.
Their cat tree should be arriving today, so I'll get that set up for them! Hope they love it!

Rembrandt let me squeeze his paws today and I mimicked clipping without the clippers, went okay, but gotta keep doing it to both of them. It would be a pain to keep taking them to the groomers for a trimming.

Do cats generally need their claws cut? I've never even considered it for any cat that I've had, altho' I do have lots of scratchies in and around the house and she walks on the concrete in the yard every day ,she's 12, her claws don't seem too long and she's never attacked any furniture
I love how you name your cats Draco :)

I’ve had to keep on top of claw trimming because they can get sharp and hurts when they kneed me. Don’t want them ruining clothes and furniture either.

How is Cassie doing?
she seems okay, though not ready to blend with the boys yet. She’s curious still. I am still keeping the separated with brief visits

Their fur is looking much better! No longer scruffy, matted and crispy. They still smell a little of shelter, I’ve been wiping them down with pet wipes and it seems to help.

they also got their own cat tree so Cassie won’t have to share hers. The boys deserved their own property. I don’t think either of them knows what to do with it, I don’t know if they’ve never had a cat tree at the hoarders house or at the shelter. I will have to show them and hope they love it!

I do hope she'll be happier with them than she was with Monet!

Love that tree - it looks like the same brand as mine, but a taller model (mine is an Anko, $39 from Kmart).

They're going to be big cats. The cat tree is lovely, but as their size increases, you'll need to secure the base more to keep them from tipping it over. (sorry, one of my nightmares, cat tree falls over, six weeks on cage rest while broken leg mending.) It's not the ones who leap from the tree who get hurt, but those it falls on. You might secure it in the same way you do your Christmas tree, or, my personal favorite, put a short bookcase with heavy books on it's lowest shelf on the open sides.

Apologies, I swore this morning when I got up I would stop offering unasked for advise. Sigh. I'm working on it.

whether I know or not, offer advice anyway! If not me I’m sure someone will appreciate them! (And I do appreciate advice

the boys are about 3 years old. I think they are done growing? Maybe a little with proper nutrition and care now?

regardless the tree came with a wall anchor. I’m going to ask my dad to help me secure it because while I can build the tree myself, I don’t want to ruin my wall either.

Rembrandt is so photogenic

Thank you. They are so pretty. Even at three they can grow a bit. I had one who was two and had been in a lean situation before we got her. we thought she was grown but turned out she hadn't really done her second year's growing until she got regular meals. If nothing else your boys will be building new muscle mass and hitting their targets - the tree - with more force as you get more good food into them.

They are so beautiful, and I love the names!!!
I'll add to the people who suggest a greyhound comb. While we don't groom that many cats anymore, I wouldn't even attempt working on a longhaired cat without one.
Once they are more used to you, I'd start getting them used to line combing. I've found with long haired cats (and dogs, for that matter) it's the best way to get that really clean and flowing look where all the hair is combed out all the way down to the skin. Here's a brief tutorial I found online that shows the basics of it, it's very easy.

I got the greyhound comb and I am quite impressed with it!
Thanks for posting the video, I didn't realize I should brush under first with lifting the fur. I can see why if a cat has that much thick fur as in the video!

Thankfully the boys love, love to be brushed!

Rembrandt is comfortable in the house, he's snoozing on Cassie's cat tree. Why did I buy the other that hasn't been touched yet? lol.
Cassie doesn't seem to care anymore they are there. All three of them are co-existing in the bedroom, Cassie's space. She isn't paying attention to them.

Dali is still not entirely confident. He found Cassie's litter box and is hiding within it. There's moments where he'd play and explore the house as long as Rembrandt is near by. He'd snuggle with me if I pick him up and take him to the couch. He doesn't run from me, he's fine with me and approach me if I am within few feet of him. But otherwise he'd hide. I think the condo without dozens of cats is overwhelming with sounds from my upstairs neighbor and outside noises.

I know he still needs time, it's only been 6 days. I am not rushing him or forcing him.

I'd leave them out of the bathroom at this point over night with the bedroom door open for all three cats seeing how Rembrandt and Cassie's comfortable, however, I'm unsure if I should because of Dali. I feel bad for locking Rembrandt in the bathroom at night with Dali (or when I am gone all day at work), I feel like the two of them should stay together since Rembrandt is such a good brother and checks in on Dali.

I do have feliway diffusers in two rooms to try to help.

What do you all think? Should I continue to put the boys in the bathroom for a while longer (over night or while I'm at work), or leave the door open for Dali to explore when he's ready?

Do you have a space larger than the bathroom that you could let them have while you're at work?

Not really. I have one bedroom, kitchen and living room. I could close the door to the bedroom to let them have the rest of the house but I’d feel bad for closing Cassie in
