Just a lazy Sunday morning.
Cassie wanted to snuggle, but she got too intimidated by Rembrandt. He didn’t even look at her. She whined and ran off. But one day I know she will feel confident enough to claim her throne on me with them there.

Dali let me hold him for the first time today! My heart!

Every morning he'd come to the bed while I'd sip my coffee and on the computer, and just lay within arm's reach, but would let me pet him.
But I'd also pick him up and put him on my chest for a snuggle. Every time he'd immediately jump off, and I'd let him go. I let him know he's in control and I never hold him back.
Then gradually he'd stay just a second or two longer. A little nuzzle before jumping off.

But today, he settled down and tucked his paws in with deep purrs! He stayed for a few good minutes while I pet him and held him in the crook of my arm! I was a few minutes late for work because I didn't want to push him off when we were making progress.

It always amazes me how far he's come since I first brought him home when he used to hide, run and be scared. Every day he does something that impresses me and makes me proud of him.

Just to think, I almost left him behind. So glad I didn't, I'm really developing that bond with him.

I am so happy for you, and Dali, both that he's coming around and realizing that he's living the good life. Maybe knowing he has a fan club on TCS helps! ;)

I noticed Dali's become more vocal in the past few days. He'd even sit there with a weird trilling meow. I don't think he's in distress, he's playing and eating fine.

Rembrandt is also vocal, but not like Dali. Both have quiet voices.

I always say they're singing the song of their people when they get into a harmonious meowing after meals lol.

It's cute! I just hope it doesn't mean anything!

Two of mine at work will trill and chirp at one another, even if they're nowhere near one another. It's kind of funny because one starts, the other answers, and the other responds, and it just starts this chain reaction. They're litter mate brothers and very heavily bonded.

I'm wondering that's what Dali's doing, calling out for Rembrandt. He'll make these trilling sounds, but then (sometimes) stops when he sees Rembrandt.

Its been several days and nothing seems to be wrong with him. Im thinking he's just coming more out of his shell and likes being a talkative cat. He'll sit while Im on the couch, stare at me and meow. But when I try to pet him he'll walk away. brat.

Sarah was a very quiet, almost reclusive cat in her early years. As she came out of her shell, she became more talkative. Once she was out of that shell completely, she had a full vocabulary! She'd meow, chirp, trill, and occasionally start yowling at the top of her lungs if she couldn't find me.

I learned something new today about a cat's tail!
I thought I knew what each movement of tail meant.

Then I noticed Dali would vibrate his tail as if he was spraying, but he isn't spraying at all. I noticed it when I went to prepare his dinner, or when I simply went into the kitchen and he thinks I'm getting him food.

I learned that a mock-spray means he's happy or excited!

I swear, this cat never ceases to amaze me.

I'm glad you mentioned this. One of my work cats will do this every single time I bring food in to them. At first I thought he was spraying the cabinet, but, there was never any urine. He always runs to the same spot, turns, and mock-sprays the cabinet. It's great to know it's a positive thing!

Actually " tail quivering" means several things which does " include phantom urinating or spraying urine but primarily its used for feline communication- to interpret accurately you have to observe the cats overall body language

Most folks notice tail quivering when a cat sprays urine- the excitement (or agitation) is high so it's rapid & intense

Anticipation, contentment, happy to see you is expressed by gentle quivering, most folks don't really notice.... might not even notice a cats tail vibrating when they are very angry or very anxious

So it not really a sign of spraying but the " emotion" or expression they are feeling as they are doing it( physiological ) When a cat noticeably quivers his(or her) tail when greeting you thsts a very big compliment

That's exactly what he does! Butt up against a cabinet vibrating his tail! I always check to make sure there's no fluids because Im paranoid and I don't want a problem lol

I am thinking it's excitement with Dali because it's always with feeding time. He also rushes me with meows rrreeeaaaalllly wanting that food!
I've never seen him shake his tail like that anywhere else. And Dali was/is a nervous cat. He would hide often or run when something spooks him and I've never seen him quiver/vibrate his tail in those cases, hard or gentle.

But yes, always observe the felines and their behaviors!

That sounds exactly like mine. He's a quiet, kind of reclusive cat but when it's feeding time he hits the cabinet where I prep the food and that tail is quivering like crazy while he meows. I find it cute and funny!
