I am starting a book about Shirley Jackson. I picked it up in the dollar store years ago. It is a compilation that even includes some of her grocery lists. I don't think I've read a book like that before. I am running low on reading materials lately.

I just read Salman Rushdie's Knife, which is about his stabbing a couple of years ago. Somebody used the fatwa to attack and stab him just before he was going to make a speech. It was an insightful book. He certainly has the English language and American culture down pat. I might try The Satanic Verses, which caused the fatwa, but I dunno. How to Win Friends and Influence Fungi is up next.

I heard him interviewed on Fresh Air the other day.

Being an avid knitter I love to 'read' via Audible.
Presently I am reading My Beloved Monster by Caleb Carr
Amazon.com

it is very entertaining, although I do think he reads into his cat's behavior more than is there. A lot he writes as if his own imagination were his cat's genuine thoughts and motives

I’m currently reading Lady Ivy & the Irishman by Sally Britton. She is becoming one of my favorite authors for historical fiction. So many are set in London/Ballrooms when it comes to Regency fiction; but she tends to write the stories of people outside of London and include a more diverse social class in her works. I find her stories deeper than some; but still a pleasant escape from reality.

Lately I’ve been reading less fiction and more nonfiction but less overall it seems. It feels like my soul needs a different kind of nourishment. I love how books can do that. Choose what you need at the moment. 🩷

I'm reading "The Fabric of Civilization- How Textiles Made the World," about the history of string, fabric, yarn, weaving, cotton, linen, silk, knitting, crochet...speaking of nonfiction. Very interesting for, since I like to knit, crochet, quilt.

I’m reading a bunch of fun but not terribly deep books, but I just finished The Dictionary of Lost Words by Australian author Pip Williams. It was quite good. I look forward to reading more of her works.

I just started re-reading The Winds of War by Herman Wouk. I downloaded it to my Kindle with Kindle Unlimited. I got the follow up War and Remembrance while I was downloading.

I also downloaded In Any Lifetime by Marc Guggenheim. That was a free July first read book.
Sounds interesting:
A devoted husband defies fate and risks everything to find the one universe where his beloved wife is still alive in this bold and thought-provoking novel.

I see that I have 434 items on my Kindle. Some of them I have read, but a lot I haven't.

So you find the Kindle Unlimited worth it? I had it years ago, but we recently got a new library here.

Okay, finished Seven Year Slip - really enjoyed it!!!!

Next book for my book club is None of This is True, by Lisa Jewell. I'm not sure how I feel about it so far. 3rd person present writing is hard for me to get into, but I want to know where it's going.

But the reason I'm really posting is to share this random book I picked up at the library that I thought was going to be just a number book, but ended up quite cute and funny. Here are a few pages.

I will probably have to actually buy it for the girls at some point.

I have always adored children's books. This one looks great.
