An update on the heart disease.
She had an Echo done and she’s in the very early stages. There has not yet been a thickening of the heart so we are on watch a wait with yearly echos to monitor the progression. So they are calling it asymptotic at the moment. I will be keeping a firm eye on her though, counting her heart rate etc. Probably the best outcome given O knew she had heart disease. I am relieved it is not advanced.
In terms of the diarrhoea, she hasn’t had any since Sunday but she also hasn’t passed any poop at all. Fingers crossed now she’s at home, eating more and can relax it will come soon. I know when I’m stressed and in a foreign place, my bowels don’t work as regularly.
Even with heart thickening, she may be able to compensate and still survive for some time. There are many medications a vet cardiologist can help you with. Best of luck to your kitty!

I am glad that you received an early dx of the heart murmur so you know that you can watch and monitor. Using a veterinary cardiologist would also be a good idea if one is available.

That is a sad story about your other cat. I have found in general over the years that vets will throw out a dx of IBD or lymphoma pretty easily and also that, as with Eliot, heart conditions are not always addressed properly. What I learned after I lost a dog years ago during surgery that a regular vet performed was to always find the specialist if a certain condition is suspected or the procedure might be very delicate, as in eye surgery. Vets are jacks of all trades because they have to be; that is how the profession runs and most try their hardest and do a good job, but it does not mean that they are up on the finer points of anything unless it just happens to be an interest of theirs.

So now I need advice on the poo situation. She hasn’t done one since she came home. It’s been 4 days since the diarrhoea and whilst I’m so happy there’s no diarrhoea there’s also been no solid ones either. Should I be concerned? I know she’s still recovering from the trauma of the vets. And shes been stressed out with my other cat hissing at her for smelling different.
I don’t want to rush her down the vets for this unnecessarily given the stressful time she’s had this week.
Should I panic or give it more time? She’s been eating and drinking well. And passed urine.

Try to give him some pumpkin puree (not the pie filling) , or mix some into his food.

Pumpkin puree is probably very safe to try. Some use Miralax or other pet laxative products but that might require advice from the vet on dosage or contraindication.

Hi all,
My cat has had diarrhoea all week and yesterday she started having thick bloody mucus appearing in it. She was in so much pain and vomiting too so I took her to the vet. I left her at the vet on IV fluids and tomorrow she is having an ultrasound. The vet ran off a whole list of scary sounding things. To be honest I was so worried I didn’t probe as much as I should have and I have no idea what it could be.
I’m fearing the worst. The vet also left me a voicemail saying she detected a heart murmur.

honestly I’m terrified of losing her. If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it. I probably won’t hear from the very until Monday morning now and my thoughts are driving me crazy
Just came on and see your post. Have you tried keeping chicken out of you cat's diet? We had a cat that was allergic to it. Our vet is really knowledgeable and diagnosed it without even doing any tests. He hit the nail on the head first time out. We started feeding her a limited ingredient kibble with no chicken whatsoever in it and it did the trick.
