Advice for vomitting cat?

He's vomiting bright green liquid now. Never seen it like that, he usually vomits clear or yellow liquid (warning for a grose photo!). In pictures it doesn't look as green as in real life though

Take him to an internal medacine doctor. My vet admitted that a specialist has had many more years of schooling. Depending how her blood work turns out in 2 months he suggested seeing one. She throws up every morning. It looks like that or clear water sometimes fur. I just bought cerenia to start giving to her again.

I would. Especially because ERs can be associated with animal hospitals that may have more equipment or specialists than your regular vet. If that green vomit smelled foul like poop, that’s an obstruction. Don’t delay. Otherwise that could also be some reaction to an ingested toxin. I wouldn’t delay on that either.

My country doesn't really have ERs or animal hospitals like that, some veterinary clinics are just open overnight. The clinic I go to is considered one of the best and they have the newest technology (pretty sure they're one of only with an MRI) and widest range of specialist but they close at 10pm. But you're right about not delaying. I'm on my way to the vet right now. Thank you for advice so much!

Please keep us updated. You mentioned that he had some intestinal thickening, my girl who had that was prescribed Prednisolone and it kept her going for 3 entire years. If his intestines continue to thicken, it will make it very hard for him to absorb nutrients from his food, so definitely keep this in mind. How is he doing now? I also second maggie101 with the mention of an internal medicine doctor, they saved my daughters life when she was battling many illnesses including extreme thickening of the intestinal wall. She was also prescribed Omeprazole to help with her vomiting and it drastically cut down her vomiting episodes.

It's been terrible couple of days but he's getting better now! He swallowed a toy (I can't believe I just left it out, I'm usually so careful with anything my cats could swallow) and it was stuck in his small intestine (google is telling me the correct translation to English from my language is 'duodenum'). They couldn't find it in any of the tests and ended up performing a diagnostic surgery on Saturday. He's been home since Saturday evening and seems to be recovering pretty well, I even started to feed him yesterday and he's been able to keep everything down. As he's getting better the biggest challenge is to keep him from jumping on furniture, also he's licking himself ALL the time (not the incision since he can't get to it) and now I'm worried he'll make himself sick with all that hair. Anyway, thanks to veryone who wrote in, it really helped! It was super scary, hopefully he'll successfully recover

Wow! Thankfully the only toys Betty is emphatically interested in are catnip bananas and catnip pillows the size of her head. I literally just signed her up for insurance this morning so that should anything like this ever happen to her, the cost wouldn't ever be a question.

I'm glad they found it and that he seems to be recovering well. I don't know how many days he has to be on activity restriction. It may not be worth buying a crate. Cats are remarkable healers. My last cat had a surgery that they had to clear a middle ear infection through an incision below her jaw. She was on activity restriction for two weeks to let that heal without risk of opening it up. I put her in a large dog play pen for that. She hated it. I didn't care for it much myself. I missed having her by my side. But short term sacrifices for the greater good. I let her out of the crate whenever I could 100% supervise her and make sure she wasn't running, climbing, jumping, or scratching at the incision site.

Hug him extra for us and I'm so relieved he's going to be alright.

They said moving is fine but no jumping for about 10 days or so. I did get him a large dog crate yesterday and I put him there for the night (he did well in it this night but I think he was just exhausted, not sure how it will go in the future) but I took vacation for this week and supervise him doing the day. Not sure what I'll do next week. He's also feeling better today and been moving a lot more so it's getting more challenging. He always had an insane amount of energy, and it's starting to recover it (which makes me happy but also nervous for the upcoming healing period). He never was a big groomer but now spends so much of his day on it - I'm worried he'll plug himself up with hair, going to ask the vet about it tomorrow.

Available on all the major streaming services. This is the good stuff for relaxing cats. It is cat-tested and approved. Even dogs at Krista's hospital stay were unusually calm because I made sure her iPod of "cat rock" was always charged and playing while she had to stay there. I came each morning and had the staff swap out a spent battery pack for one I had charged up for them. A neighbor's cat who I mistakenly trapped believing he was a stray also quieted his captivity song when I set him up with a speaker playing Music For Cats. This might be the thing to take your energetic boy down a notch while he's healing.

Out of curiosity, was the toy he swallowed something any of us might purchase, like a cat toy? Maybe we can all learn to avoid buying it!
