Luke had palliative radiation his jaw/face tumor. The tumor is pushing on his sinus, eyeball, saliva glands making his eye, nose, mouth overproduce mucous and drip.

I can see the snot plugging up his nose, he cant clear it on his own, he's sneezing a lot and licking his nose to the point of bleeding. Even when he does want to eat he has to take long brakes after each bite to swallow all the saliva and catch his breath.

I've been trying to do what I can with wet paper towels (mainly get rid of the dried crust over his nostril) and hanging out with him in a steamed up the bathroom. Got antibiotics from the vet to see if it helps (doesn't).

Both the antibiotics and the steroid (prednisolone) make him drool a lot compounding the problem. Is there anything else home remedy or something a vet prescribed that would help him not feel so congested?

Some people use the same thing they would use on babies to clear mucus from their noses. I think it's called a nasal bulb or nasal aspirator, but I don't know if that will work if there is a tunor blocking the passage. Definitely ask your Vet about what you can do for him.

Contact the vet and tell him what's going. He may suggest something different
The vet said their isn't much to do with cats other than humidity, antibiotics, clean his face...

They don't recommend I take him anywhere, stress is gonna effect lifespan.
If I choose to bring him in and give him sedation they can asperate (like a kitty netti pot)

And the very face a warning this has got a 50/50 chance of working at best. Cerenia (the motion sickness med) diluted to 10% in saline and squirted in his nostrils might have ant anti inflammatory effect. Oncology Vet sent it to a local vet to fill but it's taking 3 days to get it.

Luke's mucous is changing from water to solid so I think the poor guy has a sinus infection on top of everything else. =(

This isn't to clean the nostril per say, but I'm going to go ahead and suggest this because it works: try giving your pet turmeric. Orally, not the nostrils, of course.

Turmeric is an anti inflammatory species that also has powerful anticancerigenous effect (it's been well studied and extensively confirmed in hundred of peer reviewed medical papers, of which I can link you). I gave my Sueño (stage4 melanoma in the mouth ) a turmeric formulation daily and it greatly improved her quality of life.

The fact that it's also an antiinflammatory will help the congested nostrils (I give it to my other cat for inflammation on the gums [an unrelated topic] and it makes the difference if he can or can't eat) that day.

Honestly, turmeric is also antibiotic and antifungal - it has a ridiculous skill set. And very little risk (the "don't overdo it" rule applies here as it applies to drinking water). I'd apply some on the tumor itself if possible, so it acts in a "localized" manner. Again, that's what I did with my Sueño, and now with Gremlin.

I hope this helps. Let us know how your Luke is doing.

Are you talking about the liquid diluted drops of tumeric formulated for cats or the powdered stuff from the spice isle?

I've used both, but if we're talking improving quality of life in cancer, the liquid drops is what I'm refering to.
