After a stray cat that graced himself into our lives for a year went missing and we had come to terms that he had passed away as he had a severe hip problem wheee plagued him throughout. Before he went missing, he hung around with a beautiful tabby cat. They were inseparable.

When our cat passed away, every day his friend would come looking for him , sometimes twice aday. Soon we began to grow fond of the cat and managed to tame him. He quickly get attached me to, our bond grew so quickly. Theee something so unique , more than your average cat. There was not a day he would not come visit me. Up to 4 times a day for a total of 5 months he would visit. I know he belonged to someone as he was always well groomed and smelled nice. He had a tremedous home training. But was very spolit. At times he would demand to come inside and stay . When i refuse he would get mas and walk away , but would return later in the day.

I felt nothing of it . But in the last week, certain things he would do was strange. One of cause waa of a delught. He brought a mice, which i took as his gift ti me.. The strange part was the kast two nights, he wiuld call round at 1am in the morning his cries for attention( i assume) was deafing. It waa nit cries of pain, but one of attention. The first night , i ingored him. He returned the next day guilt ridden. The second night again i ingored him snd this was the last time i seen him. It has been 6 days now and i am feeling so lost , guilty abd worried. The only consolement i habe is that he belongs to someone , but a part of me is wondering all sorts has happened

I also noticed he had been bullied by another stray cat, but we soon took care of that and made sure he nevee returned. We did all we could to protect our ( what we considered) as our adopted cat and allay his anxieties and to some extent it worked.

We use ti see our cat also walking along the street at the front of our property, now there is no sigb of her.

Please cab someone give advice as to what could have happened?. She never crosses the road and always walk along the side , but i have ruled out an accident. I am so sas without him and his cute face and chubby cute paws 😭

Hi and welcome to TCS, despite what brought you here. I am a bit confused, in the last few sentences you sound like you are mentioning a second cat (female), and even said there is no sign of her. But, it seems you are talking about the male cat that you think belongs(ed) to someone, but came to visit with you until 6 days ago. So, not knowing for sure, I will just comment on the missing male.

There is no way to know what happened to him. Maybe his owners moved and took him with them. Maybe his owners left him behind and someone else took him in. Maybe his howling those last two nights were trying to tell you something was bothering him. Maybe, maybe, maybe. You can't know.

You could solicit the neighborhood and ask about him and if he belongs to anyone. If he does/did, at least you would likely find out what happened to him.

Hello Feeby,

Sorry about the confusion. I was so anxious to post and realised when i re-read it , it appeared confusing and there is no option on this olatform to edir 😢

The cats are both males. The first cat ( Coffee) passed away in Decembee kast year and his friend ( tabby norweigan mix ShayShay) turned up a few months later.

Thanks for the advice.. i am worried that it will be the time i would ever see Shay. I am constantly reminded of how Coffee went. The last rime i saw Coffee, he had his kast meal and i never saw him again 😭

I am sorry for the loss of both these cats.

I hope you will at least check around with the neighbors, even if they weren't his owners, they may know something.

Well, he's apparently an intact male, and this is the very last hurrah of kitten season. A few females are in their last heat. So he MAY be out doing that. Toms can range up to five miles from their home base. We'll hope that is the case. DO check around the neighborhood, though. NEVER give up on an outdoor cat too quickly.

And keep us posted.

Hello Mam,

Thank you for the response. I am still out of loss with our adopted babies swipe change. There was never a day when he did not come to visit . The bond that he had with me - in such a short time was so compelling. I have had cats before , but he was more than just a feral. I hadnt raised him and it felt as if i did.

I am not to sure if he is fully intact though . He is well taken care of , well groomed, well manicured and smells amazing, so his owners would have had him doctored. Surely he would not go searching for a mate if he has been doctored?.

It is now the 7th day and still no sign of him. I am so anxious about somewhat guilt ridden because i did no lt allow him to stay the last night he called for attention. I felt had i did, he will still be with us now . It is just the "not knowing" that is punishing me 😭

EH...generally a neutered male doesn't search...HOWEVER, if he was neutered late in life, after his mating habits were established, he very well could continue. So, it is possible. And since he is so well-cared for, it might be that his people are keeping him in for some reason.

I know how this eats at you. Since I have my own "outsiders," it is a familiar feeling. Lighting a candle that he shows up again!

Thank you..

An uodste, although not concrete, but a family member thinks she has seen him on two occasions . One time at 1am and another at the bottom of the garden today. On the second occaaion, she called to him but he rushed into a nearby exit and left. Which he has known to do , but he wouod always return to see us. He hasnt since he left 8 days ago, which is mighty strange.

Is this common? . Could it be him avoiding us ? . I cannot fathom why ( if it is in indeed him, because we adored him and took the best care of him when he came to visit for 7 months😢

IF something spooked him in the yard, he may be a bit wary for awhile.

A week or two before he left a stray cat had tried to bully him in our neighbours garden ( apparantly tried to hold him down). He immediately ran to us aftet the encountered, we immediately put a stop to the bully returning.

The bully cat came two times after as far as im aware that waa the last time., but that did not deter oir adopted baby to visting us, although he was a little nervous ( kept checking behind ) when eating.even though we watched over him

I am not sure if the bully caf returned unbeknownst to us and tried to bully him again?

Before our adopted cat left he would often be seen walking along the roaf at the front of our property ,he hasnt been seen since ( 8 days now ) . I sm so worried. Its just not knowing 😭

Could it be another predator that he has encountered or the bully cat 😥

There are many things that could have happened and no way to know for sure which one. Have you at least alerted neighbors and asked for their assistance in keeping an eye out on him? Some may not be willing to bother, but if you keep checking with them, you will find out the ones who are and are not, and you can keep checking in with the ones who are.

What kind of steps have you taken to notify others and to actively look for him? The latter half of this article are the types of things you want to do.

He has only been missing from visitng us. He has a fsmily and i am sure he isnt missing from them as their does not appear to be any posters around.

I am leaning more into what the early poster who suggestee his family may have moved ,( yhat kay tie in with his unusual behaviour where he called for attention at 1am on two occasions which he had never done before, which may indicate he know he was about to move and was not happy wuth it. I maybe reaching with that statement . Or he is with a friend or cat sitter whilst they have gone abroad or the most dreaded thing happened ie; hit by a cat

We have tried looking fot him, calling his name. I guess it is more not knowing that is disttessing 😥

So, you know he has a family/owner? If so, then you can still talk to other neighbors to see if they know who they are or if they have moved, are on vacation, etc. if you really want to try to find out. Otherwise, if you don't want to pursue that angle, then frankly, let it go and assume he is safe and healthy and being cared for. In the long run that is all you really want for him, isn't it?

There was also a woman who passed our house when he was sitting out. She kept commenting oh how had beautiful he was and was like literally staring at him..I cant lie, i am even paranoid that maybe he has been stolen 😨

If his family moved and didn't take him, there is a good chance they found someone else in the area who wanted him and he has a new family. He may even be learning to be a house cat with occasional escapes, when he is spotted outside.

She probably thought he belonged to you and was being friendly by commenting about his good looks. Nothing more and nothing less.

I dont think so. The way he is so well kept, i dont think his family would leave him behind..

Although mwmbers have clsimed to have seen him, i very much doubt it. There is another cat that had been seen that was similar. He has a distinctive tail ( norweigan forest) .

The way he just disappeared is so cold. I kmow it was not intentoonal as he had such a bond with us. I guess it is the not knowing and each day it gets worse and worse 😢

There is still no sign of my babes 😭😭😭.There is somethiing that came to mind and wondered if someone can address it. It maybe a shot in the datk but , i mentioned he was very close with an adopted cat we had for a few years.

The tabby mix only met him( that passed away) a few montbs back and since is death tabby mix came everyday in hopes he could find him and would often check in our previous cats bed which waa made out of wood, a few times he would sleep in there, in hopes to be near out beloved departed cat.

I am not sure if tabby mix was the last cat to see our cat when he was alive. Anyways we soon bonded with tabby mix and he would come visit 3 -4 times a day.. Anyways shortly before he went missing , we where clearinf out our previous cats bed to free some space so tabby mix can continue to sleep, but unfortunately when doing so, the whole thing collasped due to water damage so we had to dispose of it , but ddcided to build another for tabby cat . Soon after at 1am he would cry.which he never did before. Not sure if it was a cry of saddbess or attention. Either way, that was the laat we saw of him.. could it be he was heartbroken that the bed which his friend lived was gone and with that he felt bewildered and abandoned even seing us anymore ?

It is possible. Cats are hyperaware of their surroundings, and are not fond of change. It is also, still, possible that he will come back. I've gone weeks without seeing some of my Outsiders (the little group of ferals I care for). When I've given up, and begun to adjust to never seeing them again, there they are again (not all, but a significant number). ONE showed up after almost six months, with a collar! I'd gotten him friendly enough that someone took him in. That was three years ago, and he still swings by occasionally, just to say hello.
