Had cat 1 yr now, and would welcome how to get off automatic feeder kibble that made her less anxious. She likes automatic waterer. Cannot find a pattern to what texture, flavor or over $1/can canned foods she likes. Likes Catit Creamy, but they are treats not nutrition. Welcome dunce coaching for me. Thanks

Early solution to cat anxiety was automatic kibble bowl, but now asking how to wean her off as is a year later. Introduced wet twice a day wet food, not predicatable as fickle about categories (sea, poultry, beef) or textures or over $1a can/stuff. Will mostly eat Catit Creamy, which are treats-not daily nutrition, yet not prediictable eater of similiar-texture as pates. Thought Honest Kitchen dehydrated could be a remedy, but your thread is discouraging and HK remain out of variety packs. Covet suggestions. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to TCS! How have you tried to introduce wet food to her so far?

The type of wet food is going to be a trial and error until you find a texture and some flavors that she likes. I wouldn't worry about trying to rush any change, take it slow and easy and let her eat kibble without pushing to get her off of it any time soon. There is no magical way to transition a cat, as it all depends on each cat and you learning her preferences over time.

You can also try to crumble up some of her kibble to add as a topper to some of the wet foods, if she is resistant to eating them.

Thanks for encouragement. I've given her regular AM/PM tablespoon, warmed, added broth/no broth, in an aluminum raised feeder. Her kibble on top is good idea, but puzzling that she doesn't like chunky canned food. Oddly she takes to different brands of kibble. Eons ago the word was variety kept cats from developing food sensitivities--currently I don't see anything to dispute that, but open to hear. Thanks for advice.

When I transitioned my cat from kibble to wet food, all she liked was pates. Not saying it is the same for your cat, but maybe. I could never get Feeby to eat any chunky food at all.

I personally am not sure what drives the thing about variety. My first two cats ate the same darn thing their entire lives and never had any issues with it, either with losing interest or getting any kind of food sensitivity. It was Feeby, when I went down the variety path, that gave me a run for my money and the older she got the more I had to try new foods to get her to eat. Before she passed, she was on a rotation of at least 7-10 different foods in order to keep her interested - all pates!
