We have a cat that who has recently taken to chasing her tail...quite a lot. She does it on the kitchen floor, on the couch...everywhere. It's particularly annoying when she does it on the bed in the morning, and wakes us as she trampels over our feet. Why do cats do this? It mostly makes us laugh, but is there reason to worry?

How old is she and when did this behavior start?

The cat is a female. About 6 years old. It was normal for her to do it once and a while, but has been doing a lot, i.e., 3-5 times a day, the past few months. Thanks for any suggestions.

Extreem tail chasing could mean that your cat is in pain. I would call your Vet and explain the situation, possibly have her checked out. Good luck to you both

Yes, I also think a medical check-up is in order. After the vet gives the all clear (hopefully), you can start looking into this as a behavior problem.

Let us know what the vet says!
