A question for those with cat burglars

My Cali was watching me using a pencil. When I put it down, she grabbed it with her mouth, jumped off the desk and ran away with it. I have searched everywhere and can't find the pencil. For those of you with thieving kitties like Cali, where could she have hidden it? What are the common places for a cat to stash its "loot"? 

I am fond of that pencil.

:lol3: Jamie used to stash things in his litter box, in our bed, under the TV table and under the carpet in the living room. Mogli puts his loot under the TV table or beside a leg of the kitchen table.

I have not looked in the litter box area and hope the pencil isn't there. 

 Tomorrow morning I'll go around the garden. Lately Cali has been napping on top of a mushroom statue.

Just under the edge of fridge or stove is popular in my house.

Wedged behind doors is a big one for my guys, or tucked under the edge of blankets. Wendel loves to hide his toys under the bathmat.
