She did lose some weight. Maybe if you gave her a good brush she might feel better. Use a toothbrush if you don't have a kitty brush. At this point, she's in good hands between you and the vet, so making her feel loved is what she needs.
Her face was yucky from the food, she's been washed up now. Still syringe feeding every few hours. She is peeing in the litter, still having diarrhea though. I've cleaned her goopy eyes out too, they seem less sunken than yesterday. Hoping she turns the corner soon and starts eating on her own.
I figured that's all that was. But, she is a longhair. Using a toothbrush simulates mom's tongue. It may make her feel less violated. She doesn't understand you're trying to help, she just feels yucky.
Even though both fecals were negative he wants me to treat her with Baycox at twice the dose for 3 days because he thinks it's coccidia and we just aren't finding it on the fecals. Keep doing what I'm doing and cross fingers. She is eagerly eating the food from the syringe today but still won't eat on her own. Still 0.8 pounds. She's only 5% dehydrated now so that's an improvement.
Up 0.2 pounds today! She loves to eat now but still not on her own. Her poop has gone from water to toothpaste consistency which is getting there. I'm happy with her progress today just not sure why she won't eat on her own.
When she's eating on her own she can go back with her siblings. Got her fecal report back from the lab and it was negative for parasites as well. I've no idea what caused this then. She's definitely more active, my husband has to hold her down for me to do fluids now, but she's still got no interest in eating on her own or drinking. Her crate has shallow dishes of water, dry kibble and the mush she's been eating out of the syringe. But everything remains untouched.
When she feels better she will eat, I've had many kittens stop eating that weren't feeling good. Will she nurse mom? Thank you so much for the good news, I pray it continues!
So glad that your little princess is making progress! You are really fighting the good fight to save her. If you can consult a holistic vet, you could ask about adding some slippery elm or marshmallow root to her formula, to help her intestinal mucosa to recover more quickly - maybe your own vet has some knowledge of herbs
