Temp is down to 99.3 as of this morning. She is darting about like a madman then gets tired and naps for hours. Anytime we try to contain her in her little recovery center she screams till we let her out šŸ˜‚

Still very nauseous and low appetite, obviously lymph node swelling will take awhile to go down. Getting Ondansetron tomorrow for the nausea because Cerenia alone is not enough. Still no biopsy results but seeing how bad her fever was and how quickly after taking medication it started going down Iā€™m fairly confident that it is FIP.

Quick update, she is doing very well. Still seems a bit uncomfortable and appetite isnā€™t totally back. I added ondansetron and mirataz to the daily medication which has improved things a lot.

Sheā€™s back to playing, maybe even more than she has for a couple months now. Theyā€™re all very happy to have new meat in the meal rotation as well (venison was tonight and I didnā€™t even have to slowly introduce it. They all just gobbled the little bit I gave them up)

Iā€™m assuming theyā€™ll call regardless, I may give them a call on my lunch just to check.

Biopsy results finally came back and it is not cancer, thank god. They did say it was consistent with signs of FIP so again bless the group that encouraged me to start treatment ASAP.

KoKo has become a bundle of kitten chaos again. Iā€™m starting to think sheā€™s been fighting this for a long while and it progressed at such a slow pace that it took ages to notice.

Things Iā€™ve observed since she started recovering:
  • Even higher energy than ā€beforeā€œ she was sick.
  • Much more playfully aggressive (she whacked me in the face with a paw lol)
  • YanYan had started to bond with her for a bit around April/May then went back to being aggressive towards her for no real reason. She is starting to accept her more and will sleep near her again.

Day 20 of treatment. First blood tests to confirm how sheā€™s doing are on the 12th of this month (the 10th of October should be her final dose as long as she shows improvement on her blood tests). Crazy how long treatment is. Honestly the 3-4 sets of blood tests are the most costly part of treatment lol

In June she was 6.3 pounds then a couple weeks later down to 6. Now sheā€™s up to 6.7 pounds and still eating healthily. Past week she hasnā€™t been on nausea medication and appetite stimulant, still have plenty on hand in case her stomach gets upset again though but she is doing very well off of it.

The place I got the FIP treatment from sent some little mouse toys with my supplies and my cats LOVE them. Only XiaoXiao has shown an interest in carrying toys around but all three love the mice and taking them to hide lol

That is amazing to hear! That warms my heart so much as I lost a kitten to FIP. Having easily accessible, vet directed, reasonably affordable treatment is wonderful!

7.5 pounds! Sheā€™s taking the higher dose treatment now so she only needs one pill again, she is very happy about this. She has to fast 2 hours before and 1 hour after so I drag myself half asleep to give her the pill then nap on the couch until she can have food. Funny enough she now just jumps in my lap to be given her pill, because she knows freeze dried chicken hearts come after :p

For anyone wondering the cost of treatment it varies based on which you choose and your catā€™s weight. The one I went with is the most affordable and will be approximately $588 over a three month period for the medication alone. On top of that 4-5 rounds of blood work will be close to $700-900. My kitty will be worth her weight in umā€¦silver probably.

Her blood work was also done last week. It was worse than last time but I was reassured this was normal since the first blood tests were before she developed the worst symptoms and treatment didnā€™t start till a while later. 4 weeks from now should show improvement.

So sorry to hear you lost a wee one to this horrible sickness. Every day I feel blessed that this wonderful group continues to support us and others.

My only issue with Stokes treatment is the cost. I just added it up and it would be $1,700 compared to $588 that I am paying. Along with the fact that each time you need a refill the vet will most likely want a full checkup costing another $100-200. It would be reassuring for sure to rely on my vet, but it is probably out of affordability for most.

Itā€™s adorable, she doesnā€™t even fuss when I press to open her jaw. Iā€™m so used to her I forgot how traumatic it is with the big cats šŸ˜‚ YanYan started growling and locked her jaw shut when I attempted to give her probiotics.

8 pounds and 8th week blood work. Theyā€™re concerned because sheā€™s not improving as quickly as they would like to see so her dosage is being increased. Other than that my vet who took her blood apparently had a hard time getting her. It took 3 techs, a cat bag and herā€¦.her comments were ā€œI guess she feels betterā€ lol

Just an update on FIP treatment, another company has formulated their own GS-441524 tablet that is half the price of Stokes. Breakable tablets is also a huge positive.
