I’ve got a lovely kitten, super sweet personality and a fancy bred cat. She knows how to use the litter box and cover it carefully - even threw up in the litter box instead of the floor?? However she seems fine to sleep in poop and has woken myself and my husband up by standing in our faces with poop paws. She wasn’t separated from her mother early but I’d love some ideas on how to fix this! So far all I can think of is wetting our other cats and putting her next to them while they clean? TIA

How old is she? When my cat was a kitten,5 weeks old and just rescued, she would play in her litter box then shoot her poo up to the handle bars then sit down. She stopped after a few days.my cat,10 yrs old, would jump on my lap right after using the litter box so she hadn't cleaned herself yet. I got pee on me! It may just be coincidental that she threw up in the box.

She’s 5 months old, and you’re probably right about the vomit haha - it was funny watching her race from the bed across the room to it though! Probably a one time thing sigh.

I see there’s a new post on the same thing haha I’m mainly concerned that she isn’t grooming at all. All my other cats would groom once or twice a day, and we’ve had kitties that clean obsessively. I wouldn’t be too concerned if I didn’t think she should be cleaning at least a little bit.

Give her a bath. Maybe that will help. If you need any ideas my cat loved the ripple rug,go cat catcher and purrfect leather bouncer wand toys, square or slanted scratcher with corrugated cardboard, chew toys, pop up squares, for hiding, and 72 inch cat tree.start brushing, trimming claws, and brushing teeth early
I'm sure you already know this but I forget about brushing teeth and fur, and trimming claws. It helps to write this!

Hi and welcome to TCS! I wouldn't start out with a bath, but rather try brushing her and see if that kicks in her 'instinct' to groom. A lot of cats will begin to groom when being brushed. You can also use unscented hypo-allergenic wipes on her and see if she want to groom following that. They can also be used to clean her paws as needed.

Not sure what you mean by her sleeping in poop? Is she sleeping in her litter box? Her poop must be a little soft and/or she digs a lot in her litter box for her to come away with poop on her paws. Do you know which it is?

You could also try putting something tasty on her fur to get her to lick. Some kittens can be slow to bathe, especially if they don't have other cats around. But, all my cats have figured it out with time. I also can commiserate about the potty --> face issue. Mine loves to rub my face but she also gets litter all over her face. So I have to wipe her face off a couple times a day. (Yes, I probably have gross stuff on my face or ingested!)
