Happy Birthday and Gotcha Day to Felix!
Six years ago today, I brought home a very scared, almost feral three-year-old kitty. You can see in this video how frightened she was. Just listen to those pitiful cries and watch her fearful body language. 
She wouldn’t let me touch her for a long time.
View media item 424195And now? Mocha’s an absolute sweetheart, loving and affectionate. She’s become a real lap cat (although she draws the line at being picked up) and sleeps curled up against me at night. She adores older “sister” Iris.
Adopting a feral or semi-feral cat takes a tremendous amount of patience. Weeks, months of patience. But it’s oh so worth it! Happy 6th gotcha day, sweet Mocha.

When our beloved angel Suha found us, she was completely feral, wandering in the Mojave, all alone and very small. Scooped her up, installed her in the "kitten cabin" and gradually introduced her to different cats from the "barn compound," all of whom were rescued "community cats" from our prior location and in various stages of socialization. Eventually, because she was so small, she came inside to join the "home team." She only ever truly bonded to me. She left us last year after almost 18 wonderful years.

I missed Phoebe's (approximate) birthday - 6 October. She's nine now, maybe (the different vets we saw when we got her had very different ideas about her age).
