Four years ago today, I brought home a very frightened—and untouchable—three-year-old from the shelter where I volunteered. They were calling her Martha. It took about two weeks for us to finally land on her true name: Mocha.
Mocha’s first week: “I’m very scared. What is this place?” View media item 424195
It took months of patience and letting her get comfortable at her own pace, but four years later, she’s loving and very loved. She and Iris (17) have finally bonded, and Lily (also 17) tolerates her (barely).
Mocha: “She couldn’t resist me.”
“I love her so much.”
“And Mom. I love Mom so much, too.”
And this is the cat that the staff at the shelter deemed unadoptable and thanked me repeatedly for adopting her. My sweet Mocha. Happy Gotcha
