Pros: 1 of few products to offer (fast) pain relief, easy to use and clean, great for regular OR occasional use, last a long time (even with constant use)
Cons: not as effective as brushing for proper/complete dental health
This stuff has saved us on a few occasions. I haven't found it to be any messier than brushing/toothpaste.
You can use a finger or just squirt it in using the tip of the bottle, depending on what works for your feline.

One of our two cats had a few dental issues when he was a few months old. The first time he had cut his gum and a tiny piece of food was stuck in it, the second time was a tooth that had to ultimately be removed (baby tooth that wouldn't come out on it's own). Each time we had to wait a few days before our vet could see us, so we searched for a product (Available in Ontario, Canada) that might help us out.

Tropiclean is the ONLY brand we could find in our local shops that actually offers a product with pain relief in addition to the bacteria/gingivitis fighting properties.

Within 24 hours (both times) the redness/swelling went down and he was acting as if there was no pain there at all (eating regularly again).

It did exactly what we needed it to, under very different circumstances each time. This product is wonderful.

It fights bad breath, and keeps our cats mouths smelling clean and fresh!

Our cats didn't exactly appreciate the taste, but they weren't fighting us very hard to avoid it.

I believe brushing is important to maintain dental health, so we do have a tuna flavoured toothpaste and two brushes we use regularly BUT we still use this gel every few days as well.

One cat reacts the same to the mint flavour (and finger) of this Tropiclean Gel as he does to the tuna flavour (and brush) of our toothpaste.

This product would be useful for any minor injuries in/around the mouth (especially tooth aches, little cuts etc) for both the pain relief it offers as well as bacteria/infection fighting.

Pros: fresh breath, easy to apply
Cons: cats hate it, very messy
I have tried endless times to brush my cats teeth with a kitty toothbrush and paste. They hate it! I thought maybe there was another way, so I tried this Tropiclean teeth gel. I like Tropiclean as a company and use their shampoos, so I knew I could trust them. Applying the gel on my cats teeth was a huge pain. They wouldn't sit still and as soon as the gel spurted out of the bottle, they scratched and ran away. If I was lucky enough to get some on their teeth or in their mouth, they would foam until the taste was gone. So needless to say, they hated the gel. It did make their breath fresh though.

The teeth gel is a good idea, probably more so for dogs that will tolerate you putting something directly on their teeth.
Pros: easy application, no major health threats from ingestion, minty fresh breath.
Cons: not as effective as brushing, messy, cats seem to really not like the taste
I am constantly trying new dental products for my fur babies. I started young with them so they will tolerate pretty much anything when it comes to dental care. My parents cats however, are old and set in their ways. being the animal loving vet student I am I had to try and find something to help my parents cats with their teeth.

This gel is great! you squirt it into their mouth real fast and don't have to brush (however, brushing will help if they will let you) When the gel hits their saliva it foams up and the foam expands to cover the whole mouth, most cats will smack their lips at the taste and feeling and this aids in moving the foam around to cover all the teeth. In a matter of weeks my parents cats teeth where whiter and cleaner and their breath was much better. The best thing about this gel isn't that it whitens the teeth, but that it kills the germs and decay that can cause other health complications like heart problems.

The cons of this product  don't outweigh the pros. The cats may drool or get some on their coat or your floor. I found putting them in a bathroom on a hard floor you can wipe up helps this, and most cats will groom the extra off their fur themselves (if not a damp towel works fine) It's clear cats are not found of the taste of this stuff, but protecting them from dental health complications is worth 5 seconds of bad taste. Plus, the bad taste encrourages them to move it around in their mouth getting a better result.

Overall this is not as good as brushing, but if you can't get your cat to tolerate the brushing then this it really one of the best alternatives. If your cat will tolerate brushing, it's great to use in place of tooth paste.

For added protection give the water additive or food sprays a try as well.
