Pros: Works exactly as advertised
Cons: None so far
We had a problem with a neighborhood cat coming in, eating our cats' food, fighting with them in our house, and spraying!  Our cats have been indoor/outdoor all their lives so we didn't want to start just leaving them shut in.  The SureFlap door took care of that problem immediately.  Our three cats' microchips are registered in the door so they can come and go, but no other cat, or any other critter, can now get in.

We also love the curfew feature.  I set it so that after 6 p.m., any of our three cats still outside can get back in, but then can't get back out until after 6 a.m. the next morning.  So we know that once they all come in, they're safely in for the night.  There are also settings to enable us to manually shut them in or out.

We've only had our SureFlap door a couple of weeks now, and hopefully it will keep working without problems.  So far, we're extremely pleased with being able to control our cats' (and strange cats) coming and going.

We have a couple of older cats we'd prefer never go out at all, so if the SureFlap had the ability to selectively let some cats out and not others, it would really be perfect.  Maybe future models will add that feature.

So why not take their microchip numbers out of the door when their inside? Wouldn't that be easier?

The door doesn't work that way. It doesn't prevent cats from going out--it prevents cats without programmed microchips from getting back in. I can lock it so that NO cats can get out but then the indoor/outdoor cats wouldn't be able to get out.
