General Information

ScoopFree[emoji]174[/emoji] is the self-cleaning litter box you can leave alone for weeks at a time. It is the only self-cleaning litter box that uses disposable litter trays to provide hands-off convenience and unbeatable odor control. You don’t have to see, touch, or smell messy waste. Simply load ScoopFree with the disposable litter tray pre-filled with Fresh Step[emoji]174[/emoji] Crystals. When your cat uses the litter box, the crystals immediately absorb moisture and odor and begin to dehydrate solids. Twenty minutes later, ScoopFree’s rake automatically sweeps the waste into a covered compartment, leaving the litter smelling clean and fresh. Simply replace the disposable tray every few weeks, and the litter box is just like new. ScoopFree is so reliable it comes with a 90-day money back guarantee.

Pros: Low maintenance for a single cat owner.
Cons: Pricey alternative to traditional litter.
I bought the ScoopFree Ultra for my previous gal after struggling to find a low-tracking litter (for some reason she managed to get litter in every orifice of our apartment). Plus, not having to scoop litter everyday had a huge appeal to me. It didn't take her long to adjust to it at all.

- You don't have to scoop. At all. You can set the sensor to clean every 5, 10, or 20 minutes. Once my kitty was used to it, I had it set to 5 minutes and there was virtually no smell.
- Long lasting (kind of). For someone with just a single cat, this litter is great. It can last upwards of a month without having to be replaced.

- It's expensive. I can't sugarcoat this...a pack of three refills is around $60 CAD. I've never done "official" calculations, but I am fairly certain at the end of the day this litter is going to cost you more than traditional in every scenario. So if you have multiple cats it is probably not the best option.
- It is meant for a perfectly healthy cat. I bought this in December and I had to get my gal put-down in June. Towards the end of her life she had extensive health problems which included very runny bowel movements. This litter is designed for solid waste which can easily be pushed into the litter trap. Anything less than that will stick to the rake and is a bugger to clean off (in my opinion).

In Summary:
If you are compulsive about litter cleanliness and don't mind paying a bit extra for the convenience, then I highly recommend it. If your kitty is prone to health problems or you have multiple cats, then I would opt for sticking to traditional litter. I personally love it and would never go back.

Pros: No scooping pee and less handling
Cons: Poo can get stuck onto the scooper, expensive refills
I have the Ultra version which comes with the cover, option to scoop 5, 10 or 20 minutes after litter box usage, and a usage counter.  The cover is completely useless and I do not use it because my cats are too big to use the litterbox with the cover.  I like the scooping options.  The regular one only scoops after 20 minutes of a cat being in the box.  I like to pick the 10 minute option for quicker scooping since my two cats use it.  And the counter is useful to see if your cat is having irregularities, like peeing too much due to a medical issue.  This will NOT work if your cat has soft poo and'll just be a mess from a rake so beware of that.  The refills are extremely expensive and the prices really fluxuate.  I bought a permanent tray on Amazon, but it does make it slightly less convenient and requires more handling. Small pieces of poo can get stuck behind the rake.  The crystal litter needs to be stirred everyday.

All in all: I would buy this litterbox again.  I do not think I can keep up with litterbox duties for more than one cat without using this litterbox since I get OCD and feel the need to scoop after each use of the literbox.  Which is way too much work in my book.  With crystal litter you don't need to scoop the pee.
