Pros: soft on paws, clumps hard, non-scented
Cons: sometimes hard to find, tends to track
I recently started doing foster parenting again for my local animal shelter and had the privilege of taking care of 2 infant kittens that were rejected by their mother.  When the kittens (which I named Squirt and Missy) were old enough to use a litter box last month, the animal shelter suggested I try Kitten Attract as a first litter for them.  I had never heard of this litter before, but if it would help with potty training, I was all for it.

The litter is a clay based litter that is ground up more to be softer on a kittens paws than regular clay scoopable litter, because kittens paws are way more sensitive than an adult cats paws.  It also has a special attractant mixed in with the litter to lure a kitten to the box.  I am not sure exactly what the attractant is, since it doesn't say on the bag, it just says "special herbal blend".  The litter also came with a small booklet on how to litter box train your kitten.  For someone new to owning a kitten, this booklet will come in handy.

Both Squirt and Missy took to the litter right away, but it took a couple days for them to actually pee in the litter box.  At first, they mostly scratched around in the litter and sniffed at it a lot.  Once they got used to the idea of peeing and pooping in the litter box, everything was good.  The only problem I found was that this litter tends to track a lot, like most clay scoopable litters. Its also not flushable, like the Worlds Best cat litter I was using with my cat, Angie.  Kitten Attract does clump very hard, so its easy to clean the litter box.  Plus, even though its unscented, it doesn't cause much odor problems at all.  The biggest thing I wish is that they sold it in bigger bags and in more stores.  Otherwise, its a great first litter for kittens.
