I got one. I had to put a box in a spot in my house where I'd rather not have a litter box. However, I needed to provide one cat with an option in this location. Others like the option too. So I decided to invest in the Litter Genie to make the box location choice less of a hassle. After a few experimentations on litter types for this location, I settled on the very lightweight Nature's Miracle. AND the Litter Genie doesn't seem to work exceptionally well with really light weight litters. First of all, the opening to the bin is small, so dumping the litter into the pail also means getting some of it on the handle that you have to pull to send the litter down the chute. The scoop that comes with the bin is smaller, probably because the opening is small. The scoop itself is awful at getting stuff out of the box quickly. Once in, pulling the handle to send the litter down into the bag doesn't always work. I have to shake the bin to get it to go down below the door. If I had it to do again, I'd buy a bathroom waste can and just stick a bag in there and tie it off after scooping---just like I do with the boxes in the other location.

I really like the litter Genie. I have had it for over 4 years. It is great. I live in an apartment, so my quandary was what to do with the messes?? During the cold weather I could just put the trash bags on my balcony and hope they did not blow off.. not a good option. I decided to spend my money on the Litter Genie.. Best expense! You can never smell 'cat' in here. For my guy, I empty it once a week--any longer and it is too heavy and is complete full! no stink, no mess, awesome!  Do yourself a favor and get one.. it is worth the price!

I use this with regular 8-gallon trash bags. (I followed the youtube video instruction somebody posted.) The key is to put the regular trash bag inside the genie bag, and use a clip instead of tying a knot at the end.

i also love this product, have been using it for about a year now. i shop around for the best deal on the refills, wish they were cheaper but i guess you get what you pay for. i also have 2 cats.

I love this thing. Can't imagine not having it to clean the box.  I also have 2 kitties and one bag a week is about what I go thru too..
I buy the bags from Amazon.  They are pricey but worth it.  I use the subscribe and save program thru Amazon so its 15% off the price if you have 5 or more items on the program.  Totally worth it.

I see absolutely no point in this gadget. I have 3 litter boxes and a LitterRobot. (The LitterRobot counts as 2 litter boxes as it is always clean). The boxes get cleaned morning and evening, I use regular trash bags and then go around the house picking up any other trash in the waste baskets and including the one in the kitchen. Then a small trip to the garbage outside (I live in a place with a garbage chute but a trip to the cans in the garage or drive way would just get me out side a little longer and have me sniff fresh air) and it's done, no smell in my place ever. I would not want to keep soiled litter in the house longer than 3 days, it draws bugs and in warm weather starts to mildew, ugh!  The LitterRobot has its bag changed every 3 days and I have 4 cats and a foster cat.

It's basically the same thing as the litter genie...

Do the diaper genie bags have a dispenser like the Litter Genie?  i would like to try this.  The litter genie bags are expensive.
