got really lucky, had wanted one for quite a while and hubby called me at work one day, had found one at a pawn shop in a box unopened and it was $250.00, he had 300.00 in pocket I had given him to pay electric, I said buy me that darn Dyson and I will write a check to the electric company. we have had it at least 8 years before the ball one came out, i LOVE IT LOVE IT
I could not get by without my Dyson 41 Animal. I had such trouble with cat hair - I bought an expensive Oreck which was junk and also a Kirby which didn't do any better. I was able to get a refurbished Dyson originally and I could not believe how great it was for getting up the pet hair. I now have a newer model Dyson 41 Animal with the attachments and it is a god send. Yes, the cleaning of the filters is a bit cumbersum but it is so worth it!!
I have mine and found it at Walmart here for a nice $330.00 before the Christmas sales. They wanted to get a jump on the sales for the holidays.
I love my vacuum. Before that I had a rechargeable type that had NO suction and I was moving into a new apartment. I did not want to have to go through the shedding and pet hair in the new place like I had so I got it just in time to do a thorough cleaning in the old place and start out really clean in the new place. Like the above review I was quite shocked at the amount of stuff I got off the "new" carpet, but on the old one not at all since I knew the other vacuum was useless.
I have not had to have service yet but the cleaning of all the filters on the thing is not an easy job. There are 3 of them in different parts of the machine and it takes time to take the thing apart and then clean and wash the filters and let them dry and then reassemble the vacuum with the clean filters. It says it needs to be done every 3 months but I will say that with a lot of cat hair you need to do it more often. While it is a pet vacuum they still clog if you have multiple or long haired kitties more often.
Does a FANTASTIC job of cleaning and if you buy the attachments that are not in the box you can get to any area and clean the house from stem to stern.
