    New cat terrified of humans

Amadicia, Did your cat happen to come from a breeder by any chance?? Most breeders, although I can't speak for all of them, keep their cats in cages. I have a munchkin who was in a cage her entire life until I got her. She came from a breeder and was very shy, withdrawn and unsocialized. It...

Cats licking or chewing on plastic

I found this quite interesting. A friend of mine who has my cat formerly known as Tucker, said that she asked her vet why cats chew or lick plastic, because Tucker does this as well. He said that it's because it contains animal bi-products and there's some kind of taste that attracts plastic to...

we had Max put to sleep today

AnnD, I'm so sorry. That kind of decision is a very difficult one, but it was the right one and you knew when it was time. Max is now free from pain and awaiting you at the Bridge. My condolences.

    Happy ending for Prince Jasper

Debra, I have a friend whose neighbor's cat got out. She was a former feral kitty. They tried for 3 weeks to trap her. She's a beautiful calico. Anyway, my friend tried all sorts of different things to lure her, tuna, sardines, EVERYTHING. Finally, she used liverwirst. It worked! This...

    YAY! They found the monster!

Nena10, I agree. I think that they should just do away with these people. They are a waste of taxpayers money. They have a roof over their head, 3 meals a day, access to a law library and free education and medical. Even the homeless don't get that. It's pathetic. On finding that guy from...

    inflammation of cat claw

Well, my cat had a suppressed immune system which caused her crusting on both ears and infected nail beds. I would definitely take her to the vet. It could be some underlying problem that's not obvious to you but a vet could find. Good luck.

    Horror Story

Tiggeytoes, If I were that person I would be furious and make someone pay for the tragic mistake! I just hope it was not the vet I go to (seeing as you're from CT). The damage has been done and unfortunately, the cat has been traumatized both physically and emotionally. I pray the cat...

    A Rescuer's Statement

Hissy, That was truly inspirational! Thanks for sharing it. It describes the feeling when you find a home for an animal that at one time someone discarded.

    Any thoughts on the outcome?

AP, Although I don't believe that he should've walked, I don't believe he should've been convicted of manslaughter. Involuntary manslaughter means that he "involuntarily" used excessive force. He was wrong and I believe he should be punished. What kind of example would it set for his kid if...

I met a cat with no teeth

Right on Mel! Obviously Juicelyn didn't read my other posts. I specifically said I was not blaming misstoviah nor was I attacking her, I was merely trying to prove a point. Geez, I guess selective reading has it's benefits.

Bacardi goes to see the Specialist tomorrow

Hissy, That is wonderful news! At least now you know what is wrong and can help her. As far as that idiot doctor is concerned who misdiagnosed her, I'd read him the riot act and tell him where to put his bill. He has put that poor cat through hell for nothing.

I met a cat with no teeth

Misstoviah, QUOTE "the reason why the cat bites is because she had his claws ripped out, which would alter his behavior dramatically, rendering him defenseless. And all, as Melissa pointed out, because she was the one who altered his behavior to begin with!!" Point: If she hadn't declawed...

I met a cat with no teeth

Misstoviah, First of all, I'm glad the idiot changed her major to English. Secondly, the reason why the cat bites is because she had his claws ripped out, which would alter his behavior dramatically, rendering him defenseless. And all, as Melissa pointed out, because she was the one who...

    Howling cat drives us crazy

A couple of suggestions. Try using a nightlight. I have 3 in my apartment. Also, there are times when my cats (6 of them) want to get frisky at 11 p.m. (my downstairs neighbor does not appreciate this). I give them a little catnip. Have his eyes and hearing been checked lately?? It could...

    Breaking the Cycle of Shame.........

Way to go Hissy!! You've got a great teacher there who is willing to take the extra time to help you. I also was and still is terrible at math (isn't that what calulators are for??) I have every confidence that you are going to do great and you will reach the goal you set for yourself. I'm...
