I have thought of what a great business opportunity it would be to take in such cats. The owner could pay a small monthly fee to cover food, and have a prepaid account with a local vet in case of medical needs. However, unless the "cat retirement home" could get all the various cats to get...
Do you decide just by pictures, or do you meet the kittens to assess for show quality? Is it only a look, or a personality as well?
Just curious. The kittens are adorable, although my preference is the pure bred alley cat.
How is the kitten doing? I hope he is beginning to gain some strength. Do keep watch for those fleas...they really sap the strength from the little kittens.
I know the kitten has to be warm enough to be able to eat, so I'm glad for the heating pad suggestion from the vet. I wonder if a...
I'm very sorry for the diagnosis. We lost a kitten to FIP, and it was very sad. She was quite sick before we realized it, because her sister Festus would lay with her and bathe her constantly. It wasn't until they were separated when Festus was spayed that Mattie began looking really raggedy...
Beautiful kitties!
Cats like to chase, and dislike being chased. Tie a shoelace or something similar to your beltloop. As you walk around the room, the kittens may follow you to catch it! You can even tie a small toy at the end of the shoelace. When I was fostering feral(ish) kittens...
I sounds to me like the kitten is very likely to tame. He already knows that you mean food and good things.
One tip to use once he is inside is to tie a shoelace or string to your beltloop, something long enough to drag on the floor. A cat or kitten is entralled with chasing fun things, and...
How are the kittens doing? Hopefully they are eating and growing, and starting to trust you! You are a saint to open your home and heart to the little ones!
Maybe canned kitten food would be easier for him. Or moisten some kitten kibble with KMR (kitten milk replacement). When babies are little, they need every calorie they can get!
Years ago (before I was responsible about spaying and neutering), we had a brown tabby barn cat give birth to a siamese looking kitten. He appeared very light tan at birth.
Your kittens are adorable. Congratulations!
I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Sweet that his Momma let him snuggle and nurse for a little bit. His fur Momma and you both did your best. He knew love for his short time here on earth.
Rest in peace, baby Jack!
Is there any way that you can shut the Momma cat in with the kittens, so she won't be away from them for so long? If she is at least shut in the same room, she will be sure to hear them when they cry.
Are you weighing the kittens? If so, you can check to see if the tiniest kitten is still...
Aw, Gail, sixty is just a number! Some people are old at 55, others are still fun inside and young at heart no matter what their age.
I felt oldest at 35, for some reason. It just seemed to hit me as an older number...but luckily the year I turned 35 I worked in an office where the doctor...
Thank you so much, AbbysMom, LaydeeTania, Tierre0, Paulena and JCat! I've had a lovely day, and the special remembrance of friends just adds to the joy!
Thanks!
Happy Birthday to all who celebrate today, including Buzby, Gareth, Dethfire and me! And to anyone else I may have missed!
Hope you are all having as lovely a day as I am! And thanks, Coolcat for starting this thread, and to all who responded!
Maybe you can post notices at the vets office, and cat shelter. I think everyone here at TCS has one or more cats, so would not be an ideal choice for him. I once fostered a lovely kitty who could not get along with other cats. I talked a friend who's teen wanted to foster a cat into taking...
My 12 y/o loves Wicked. She loves the sound track (has it on her MP3 player), and read the book. I wanted to get her tickets for Christmas, but could not swing it. It is already playing in the Chicago area, and should be for at least a few more months.
My daughter even dressed up as Elphaba...
Karo syrup just in case the lethargic kitten has low blood sugar. In a pinch, regular pancake syrup works fine. (I know this from experience!) Sometimes if a kitten or cat has not been eating, and they are stressed, they will be lethargic and slow moving simply because their blood sugar is...
