My boy also likes to chew things. Keeping everything he shouldn't have, especially plastic out of reach and also having some cat grass within reach for him to chew on helped. As for furniture and such. I would look for a tight weave or perhaps a faux leather. You may also be able to find covers...
Thank you. Being here as been great for me and everyone's been wonderful. However, I am in need of a break. So I may not be around here for the foreseeable future.
Everyone's doing pretty good now. Xena's comfy and acting normally again. Em's doing well. Lilbit's at her new normal.
Thank you everyone who's advised and supported me.
Xena seems to be about the same. She's been meowing quite loudly, but we go check on her and she seems to be fine and is quiet. She's not laying like she's in a lot of pain, either. So I think the fleas are getting to her. I gave her some canned food as well and that seems to have helped. She's...
From what I know of dewormers it's not uncommon for there to be diarrhea or for it to get worse while treatment happens. Make sure she's getting plenty of fluids, so she doesn't get dehydrated and keep an eye on her is all I can suggest for now. Talking with the vet tomorrow wouldn't be a bad...
Don't be so hard on yourself. After an attack by your pet it's understandable and normal for things to be tense for a while until trust is rebuilt. Figuring out what triggered her to attack like that may help so you can either be prepared for another attack or avoid the trigger or maybe...
Has there been anything that might scare her that you know of like another cat around, loud noises, people coming and going, parties other animals around and so on. It wouldn't hurt to get her a vet appointment if you can, but her positioning reminds me of lil bit when she's unsure or scared of...
I understand my girl does similar things to me. Then she gives me the "what?" look. Drives me a bit nuts. She's lucky she's cute and I love her to pieces.
Are you feeding dry food or wet. If you're feeding dry perhaps switch to a wet food pate style is easy to eat for many cats and can just be licked up if chewing is hard.
I understand, I'm afraid of losing my cats as well. One is going on 26 years old. The other two are 8 and 7 and all three got sick within the last two months with different things. My boy who's 7 has been coughing and wheezing today sending me into panic mode even though it's a thing he does...
It's not hard to check for fleas. I look for live adult fleas or flea dirt. Granted, flea dirt may still be on her after treatment but you shouldn't find any live fleas.
To answer your question, yes, a vet can miss fleas and other things. They're humans after all.
Just a board or two laid along one side of the litterbox may help as long as their wide enough for him to stand on and talk enough for him to put his back side over the litter box. I'm thinking 2x4s stacked up and secured with at least wood glue.
emptied out the box lil bit prefers, cleaned it and put in fresh litter and lil bit hopped out of her box and used the littler box by herself. So I've been able to relax some.
Em had a coughing fit today and was wheezing. Concerned about him now, though, it could have been from a hairball. I...
Usually when a cat starts turning their head away they're done. Don't force a lot on her at once, do a few mils then give her a 5 minute break then do a few more mils and another 5-10 minute break. This way her stomach isn't expanded quickly, which can cause vomiting/regurgitation. Considering...
I'm sorry to say that since this is linked to the newest edition as she's been chasing Mila around both times this has happened then you'll need to separate them for a while. if you have a trusted friend that could take one for some time to let Mila rest and also to see if it happens without her...
Lil bit's much the same today. I did get her out of her box and gave her scratches and pets for a while, and she stayed out relaxing on my lap, then I took her to go potty, and she landed back in her box. I figured out she won't use the box if there's pee or poo in there, so I have to sift it...
Try to trust that you will know when it's time. Cats communicate very well that they're not doing well. We have a elderly cat as well (25) and as long as she's doing her kitty things well we're not to worried. On cold and or wet days, she seems to be hurting more and therefore sleeps more. We...
Considering you say it doesn't seem to be bothering him and in the photo it doesn't look like it's irritated or infected or anything, it can likely wait. You're clearly concerned though, so perhaps calling the vet when they're open and asking about it will help you. Also considering this cat is...
My boy used to do the same thing and required cleaning up after until he grew out of it. Perhaps putting a puppy pad outside the box would help as itll absorb the pee off his feet reducing the amount tracked. I would say put one in the box under the litter but he would likely shred it digging.
