    My Pet Carnivore

Glad this post was so recently updated. I just placed my first order from MPC and will get it on the next delivery schedule. I've been feeding my older kitty raw since June (that transition took like a month), and my new kitten was on raw from the day I brought him home. I use Alnutrin as my...

    The process continues...

I've started by putting it through the medium grinder plate, I put it through twice.  Eventually I will put t through once when I feel he's really got the "hang" of raw, and then I'll put it only through the large grind plate so it's chunky. I am using the Alnutrin for Meat and Bones, so no...

    The process continues...

It's been around 2 weeks now and I have Buie on about 90% raw, 10% canned.  The grind I am using now has bones and liver, and I am supplementing with Alnutrin.   I'm really thrilled we are at this point.  I hope to have him on all raw within 2 weeks, and when I get my new kitten he will be...

    Smoke, but?

I think that's just her own cute name for the color, she knows he's a black smoke. I just wasn't sure if there were different types of smoke names based on how much white showed through or if the tabby markings were more prominent, etc.. Thanks!

    Smoke, but?

Can anyone tell me if there's a special name for this kind of smoke?  He has some tabby markings.  Breeder says he's a black smoke, calls him a "Smoky Silver Classic".  Dad is a TICA Blue Smoke and Mom is a CFA Silver Patched tabby.  This is a Maine Coon kitten.  Thanks!

Day 6.  We're now on about 1/2 wet and 1/2 ground raw.  I've started adding some krill oil as a topper to get him used to it (I used to use salmon oil on his kibble).   It's stinky enough, and I hope that it will something he gets used to so when I go all raw he's got a smell that he is used to...

    Is it time?

I'm sorry to hear Missy is having issues.  She's a beautiful girl :)  Have you had her to the vet lately and had bloodwork done?  Panels can be expensive, but they can tell you a lot of info and that info can help with your decisions. When it comes to "is it time", I tell clients to think of 5...

Worried sick during his urinary blockage recovery.

If done gently, it should be ok.  Keyword is GENTLY.   The only time I have ever seen a bladder rupture from palpation is when someone is pressing hard because they are trying to express the bladder.  If the bladder is so full that it is near rupture, the cat will usually be vocalizing and...

Worried sick during his urinary blockage recovery.

If you are feeling something round and hard in his abdomen, take him to the vet.   You should not feel the stomach, it is much farther up, almost to the ribs.    Just take him to the emergency vet and let them look at him.  Better safe than sorry!

Worried sick during his urinary blockage recovery.

You can try to feel his bladder and see if it feels hard.  Have him stand normally, and you take your hand and cup it around his belly right in front of his back legs.  Push up gently and squeeze.  If you can feel a hard, ball shaped structure, that can mean he has a full bladder that he can't...
