Feral cat with possible urinary blockage.

He took off when I stood outside and looked at him too long because he got nervous. I don't know how long it will take him to return, usually several hours.

Feral cat with possible urinary blockage.

I feed a 'porch cat' who is exhibiting signs of possible urinary blockage. He's been hanging around our house 3 years. 2 years ago I was able to live trap him and take him to get him neutered and get all of his shots. I estimate him to be about 4 to 5 years old. Since that time I put food and...

Help me troubleshoot -- cat has deeper voice

No, she did not mention laryngeal paralysis. The cat has had a really low voice for several days and has been eating fine until yesterday morning. I'm going to go pick up some steroids and a painkiller and see if that helps. I did try baby food, no luck. She is begging a little bit, but won't...

Help me troubleshoot -- cat has deeper voice

She definitely won't eat anything. I've tried all the tricks. She is wheezing a bit and asking for food, but then won't eat. Wondering if I should ask for pain meds?

Help me troubleshoot -- cat has deeper voice

Thanks! Right now she completely is refusing to eat anything, so not sure I'll be able to get anything down her.

Help me troubleshoot -- cat has deeper voice

Ok-- blood work and x-rays done. All of her blood work was normal, the x-ray showed that her heart and lungs are normal. It did show *something* in her stomach. They cannot rule out and digested food, something like a hairball mass or a tumor. They gave her subcutaneous fluids, an anti-nausea...

Help me troubleshoot -- cat has deeper voice

This morning she's acting like she wants to throw up a hairball but can't, so I think she has a stuck hairball or something similar. Will call the vet and see if I can't get her in sooner

No smoke here. She doesn't appear to have any sort of illness either.

Help me troubleshoot -- cat has deeper voice

We have a veterinarian appointment on Thursday morning, but I wanted to try to think of what could possibly be causing this issue. Heidi is 16 years old, long haired. Her only chronic health issue has been cystitis which we control with extra canned food mixed with water daily. She has never...

    Clippers for cat grooming

I have an elderly cat that is not grooming as much as she needs too. We have moved to daily brushing and monthly baths. This helped for a year, but now it isn't. She has very long fur and it getting hairballs and mats. She lets me vacuum her with an attachment, so I think I could clip her to a...

    Cost of Euthanasia

Thank you. It did. The initial sedative worked in less than 2 minutes, so the vet said that she was pretty much running on adrenaline and had very little time left. Typically that sedative works in 10 to 15 minutes

    Cost of Euthanasia

I have made an appointment for this afternoon, Kitty is starting to get a bloody nose and breathing looks more labored. On the subject of costs and all the related issues, at my veterinarian clinic, when they hire a new vet, part of the compensation package is payment towards loans...

    Cost of Euthanasia

Oh my gosh. It is so hard to decide when the right time is to have a pet put to sleep. Kitty has lost a pound in 3 weeks, but is still doing all of her normal stuff. I don't want to wait too long, but making that appointment is so hard.

    Cost of Euthanasia

We actually live on acreage, so we have a cemetery for our pets. We have lived here for 25 years and have always had six plus dogs and cats at any given time. Although they all live a long time, we have had to bury quite a few over the years.

    Cost of Euthanasia

Update -- I found a local veterinarian that charges $75 as long as there is not a cremation fee. So, that's good. Unfortunately, Molly's nose has begun to bleed, so it's probably time. I have waited too long in the past, and don't want to repeat that mistake.

    Cost of Euthanasia

Molly is still purring, eating and seems happy until meds. But she is rapidly losing weight and the meds are making her so anxious that I know I am on limited time. I have another cat the same age that is doing great as well as 3 others.

    Cost of Euthanasia

Good idea about asking about extras. We bury our pets in a plot in the yard. Kitty still is doing fair today, so I have a little time. I have waited to long in the past and want to make sure I do not this time. She needs daily meds and nose drops and administering them is making her quality...
