    Malnourished, Dehydrated Rescue Help

He is doing amazingly well! He is starting to learn how to play and has been exploring the whole house. He is continuing to eat like a little pig. I really think we are out of danger now and are working on building him up at this point. Once he’s put on some weight we will slowly start...

    Malnourished, Dehydrated Rescue Help

We have our own fluids and supplies from our vet to administer them at home. I just wanted the visit for a recheck. But I totally agree, it was that last round of fluids that made all the difference. He is continuing to do very well today. His eyes are so bright and alert. The only blood test he...

    Malnourished, Dehydrated Rescue Help

UPDATE: We went back to the vet on Friday for some more fluids and an overall recheck. He had not gained a single ounce. However, several hours after he received the fluids, he decided that food was a good thing. We have not been able to fill him up! He is alert, not sleeping near as much and...

    Malnourished, Dehydrated Rescue Help

Thank you for the response! Doing the Karo syrup. I did add it to the pedialyte for a little extra boost too. Using KMR powder which I mix half water half pedialyte. I am out of vitamin paste but can easily get some tomorrow. We are doing very small amounts of food. Basically treating him like a...

    Malnourished, Dehydrated Rescue Help

3 kinds of meat baby food, which he does not appear to like at all. Our vet instructed me to give him tiny dose of Cerenia for nausea to see if that would help. He did drink a lot of water about an hour after, so maybe it helped. I’m going to try and get some more pedialyte in him.

Thank you! Doing the Karo syrup already. I don’t have any goats milk on hand, but can find some tomorrow. He just drank what looked like a substantial amount of water from his dish a few minutes ago. That’s a first. No interest in the food still.

    Malnourished, Dehydrated Rescue Help

Sunday night some lovely people dropped off a 4 month old male kitten at our house. He is extremely malnourished and dehydrated. We were at the vet first thing Monday. He was given subq fluids and a thorough exam. He is FIV/FeLV negative. He weighed 2lbs 4oz. Other than being very malnourished...

3 Weeks Post Intussusception Surgery, Still Vomiting

UPDATE: We are currently on day 12 of NO vomiting! This beats the last record of 4 days. The Reglan was not working and actually seemed to be making things worse. So after much trial and error, we have a new regimen that appears to be working wonderfully. We are now doing 4mg Cerenia every other...

3 Weeks Post Intussusception Surgery, Still Vomiting

Sorry for no replies, I am not getting alerts to responses, maybe going to my spam folder. Anyway, we started the Reglan as instructed by our vet. The vomiting improved, though has not stopped completely. She had not gained even n ounce in the month since surgery. Barely 5lbs at 8 months old...

3 Weeks Post Intussusception Surgery, Still Vomiting

Thank you. She is 1 of 11, but each one is precious to us. They are family. We have tried all kinds of things. It’s not after every meal, so it’s difficult to pin point which foods cause her to vomit. What she eats this time, may not cause it next time. It’s very frustrating and I feel terribly...

3 Weeks Post Intussusception Surgery, Still Vomiting

I have an almost 8 month old rescue kitten that had surgery for an intussusception that resulted in the removal and resection of nearly 10 inches of her intestine over Thanksgiving. She remained hospitalized for 5 days with IV fluids and medications. There were no parasites or foreign objects...

    Bladder stone, surgery scheduled

Yeah he has always been difficult to feed. He has no interest in anything other than his food. I have purchased literally every brand and type of wet food available. Special order and everything. Nothing. He won't even bother to taste it. Sniffs it and walks away. We aren't changing anything...

    Bladder stone, surgery scheduled

Thanks for your reply! He has been on Hill's C/D Stress formula for a couple of months now. When we started him in that his pH was 7 which the doctor said was perfect. And he had a ton of struvite crystals then. pH was tested again at the beginning of October and it was 6. Where the doc...

    Bladder stone, surgery scheduled

My 2 year old male was diagnosed today with a large bladder stone. He is scheduled for surgery next Monday (Nov 28th). We knew he had some struvite stones and had been placed on C/D Stress formula for a couple of months now. Unfortunately over the last week+ he has been peeing frequently and in...

    Possible Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

UPDATE ON CHARLOTTE: She had her ultrasound today with the cardiologist. All good news!! He could not find the murmur. He saw no abnormalities to suggest any cardiac disease. He believes that her heart has just outgrown her body right now and that in time it will catch up. There was a slight...

    Possible Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Thank you for your detailed reply. I assume her lungs were fine as seen in the X-ray because there was no mention of any issue with them. She did say she found no fluid build up anywhere, so I took that as something good at least. She will also let out 2 quick pants when there is something she...
