Getting hairball remedy down my cat

My older cat vomits all the time too. It is never a hairball, just the food, or whatever is in his stomache. I've had him tested and he is okay. No matter what food I give him, he still vomits. My little one leaves hairballs all the time until I switched to the Science Diet Hairball food...

How often do you feed your cat?

I feed my cats twice a day. Once in the morning, a half cup of dry and then another half cup when I get home from work. My little one doesn't seem to be obsessed about food, but my big guy will sit in front of his empty bowl and try to get the food to magically appear. It's very pathetic. If...

    Whiska's cat food

I bought the Whiskas once, and neither one of my cats even licked it. They sniffed and backed away really fast. I'm sticking to the Premium stuff, Iams...Science Diet...My vet always asks what I'm feeding to make sure that they have the proper nutrition.

    Feeding cats tuna

I remember reading that tuna once in a while is okay, but as a regular food it can do more harm than good. It does not have the nutrition that cats need, and too much mercury. Even feeding them a whole can will tweak their system. Usually, when I make tuna for myself, I let them lick the can...

    Furball help needed!!

Lots of great advice on my hairball situation. My cat does not eat all of her dry food at once, but my older cat does, and if I put the fish oil on all the dry food, and the other one eats her food, will that be too much for the older cat? I feed them twice a day, about a 1/3 cup each time...

    Furball help needed!!

I have two cats, a 7-year old and a 1-year old. My older cat has only left one furball on the floor since we got him 6 years ago. He sheds 24/7 and seems to never loose hair when I brush him over and over again. He sheds so much that I have to take the hair out of the brush at least three...

    How to punish cat?

I agree with Gaye, compressed air is VERY dangerous to spray on any living thing, especially an unkwowing cat. Just using a can of that yesterday, I could feel the contents freezing in the can. It could take an eye out... There is product you can get at a pet store, called "Sticky Paws". It...

    Whiskers

Whiskers do fall out. I have found them in the house, and know that my cats loose and grow whiskers just like our own hair. There was one time when my older cat only had 1 whisker above his right eye. Eventually, others joined them and he looked balanced again. When we got out kitten last...

    vomiting

I agree with Pete, it irked me too to not see a vet just because of expenses. When you take in a pet, it need to be taken care of. Just like everything else you cherish, a pet is in the same category.

    Giving Treats to Kittens

I gave and, still do, my cat "Baby Tabs". This way, both my cats get treats, and she gets healthy ones while in her kitten stage. Now that she is a year old, she still gets them, and loves them.

    litter additives?

I get the OdorEze at PetClub, but you can probably find it at any large pet store. I used to use the Arm and Hammer one, but it didn't quite tackle it. When I got my second cat, and found out how picky she was, that was when I had to find something more potent. I now stock up on the boxes...

    litter additives?

I use OdorEze. It had no smell and keeps the litter odor free. My little cat likes her box to be really clean, so this helps with the odors. I scoop daily, and use this additive about once every 10 days. Neither cat developed any reaction. It is safe to use and all natural.

What kind of litter does everyone use?

The two best clumping ones that I have used are Arm & Hammer and EverClean. These clump the quickest and the hardest. I also add a deodorizer called OdorEze that completely eliminates all smells.

    here kitty kitty...

When I got my second cat last summer, I was worried about how to get her to learn her name. I didn't want her to think that her name was Nigel, like my older cat, so I told my daughter that every time she was with her in her room to always use her name: when petting, talking, feeding, holding...

carpet smells like cat urine. HELP!

First of all, DO NOT hit your cat or put her face in the spot. She is a cat, not a dog. And even then, hitting is not a good way to start a trusting relationship. I had the exact same problem. There are carpet cleaning companies that specialize in pet odors and stains. Check your phone book...

    Question about declawing

Just like Mavis, we have scratching posts in every room, or where there is a tempting piece of furniture. When I adopted my first cat, Nigel, seven years ago, the shelter wouldn't let us adopt when they knew that we were thinking of declawing. My cousin adopted a cat that was declawed, so I...

Cats Passing Noisy and Smelly Gas

I get Innova at a specialty pet store in the mall. You can check it out on the internet, as they will tell you who sells it. You will not find it in any chain pet store, only the independent specialty stores. I know they have it across the country, as my cousin feeds it to her cats, too and...

    Litterbox questions

Scratching and digging is part of their instinct to cover their "stuff". My older cat couldn't care less and flips the litter just a few times. My little one digs like she found oil!!! So not only do I double line, but I also double fill. The litter in both of my boxes are quite...

what does rolling on the back mean?

My older cat, Nigel, does this every night when I get home. If he isn't sitting on the stool under the cat snack cabinet, he plops down on the floor in the kitchen with his belly extended out waiting for a good firm rubbing and patting. He only lets me do this, if anyone else tries, he flips...

Cats Passing Noisy and Smelly Gas

I have two cats, and I have never once experienced them passing gas. They have always had premium food, Iams first now Innova. They both get regular hairball stuff, maybe this helps. I had a dog a long time ago that passed gas all the time, and would look at you like you did it and walk away...
