    unexpected tears today!

It's been five months since I lost my Ra, too.  I had a little cry last night missing my boy.   Unlike you, I couldn't resist adopting another kitten a month after I said goodbye to Ra.  The new kitten's been a joy, but it's also been stressful because I am still grieving Ra, and my older kitty...

Your experience with predisone daily for Red gums, gingivitis

Thanks, Sheri.  No, I'm not asking for money.  But emotional support goes a long way.  :)

Your experience with predisone daily for Red gums, gingivitis

I giggled when I saw 124 pounds, too.  My kitten has advanced gingivitis.  I'm just trying to figure out how to approach it.  Two vets say surgery to extract his teeth.  :(  But we're waiting a bit before we decide which route to take.  The one vet said his teeth might just fall out on their...

    Advanced gingivitis in a kitten

I'll definitely talk to the vet about all options.  I just don't want him to be in pain, or risk further damage to his jaw.

    Advanced gingivitis in a kitten

Thanks, Anne.  I've had two vets say it's the most likely course of action, but we're waiting another month or so to decide.  I'm very frustrated with the shelter.  It's been lie after lie.  I'm also frustrated that they didn't treat his gingivits before it became advanced. They said they had a...

    Advanced gingivitis in a kitten

My kitten has advanced gingivits.  The vet has said that surgery might be necessary.  He was diagnosed with this seven days after I adopted him from a rescue shelter who assured me he was healthy and vet checked. They did not disclose his serious medical issues. (The shelter is saying he...

Ideas on training rambunctuous deaf kitten

Yes.  I've had him to the vets a few times.  His ears are clear of any infection now.  They suspect he had a virus either in utero or when he was a very tiny kitten.

Ideas on training rambunctuous deaf kitten

There is carpet on the cat trees, which he does use.  I might try denim.  That's a good idea.  Maybe I can turn an old pair of jeans into a scratching board. He's just in the phase where he wants to claim everything as his, I guess.  The truth is, the cats have more furniture now than I do. ...

Ideas on training rambunctuous deaf kitten

I don't trim his claws.  His balance is a bit wonky because of his deafness.  Maybe I should see if he can still get up the cat trees with them clipped.  I don't want him to have a spill.  He already had a bad one, and I was afraid he'd broken his ankle.  He just flopped around for about ten...

Ideas on training rambunctuous deaf kitten

Minchin is seven months old, and a holy terror.  hehe  He's currently going through the phase of scratching everything in sight.  I'm finding it a real challenge to point him in the right direction.  I'm frustrated, because I can't use voice to help train.  I have big cat trees in the living...

    Da Bird Cat Toy, Thoughts?

@sophie1:   I found a video on youtube that showed me how to do it.  The heat shrink tubing shouldn't come off at all.

    Hester's Journey across the Bridge

So sorry for your loss.  Hester was a beautiful kitty.  She was lucky that she found her way into such a loving family.  Be gentle with yourself as you mourn her passing.  *hug*

    Goofy shots :)

haha  She looks like she's depressing a bomb.  "Give me one million cat treats, or I'll blow it all up.  Bwahahahaha."

    New cat- Big trouble,,,Help!

It sounds like she's going to need lots of time and patience.  When you go into the room, try lying on the floor by the bed and talk softly to her.  Offer her treats to see if she'll come out.  After doing this for a few days, try to engage her in play.  Get a teaser wand and see if she'll chase...

    What's that white stuff?

The kitten craned his neck and got very excited watching the big fluffy flakes come down.  My senior cat doesn't seem to notice.  I haven't taken either out into the snow.  They're indoor cats.  I'd rather not give them idea that going outside is possible.  hehe
