Yes, I am certain my mechanic would have told me, he did a big check up and this was just weeks before this happened. I really just think somehow the cat got into the trunk the evening before, or earlier that morning through an open lid. My trunk tends to pop open easily and it might have...
I just had my car serviced by someone I trust and he would have told me if there was a rust hole. So that seems unlikely. He must have gone through the lid, I don't see how through the back seat either and there WAS food in the front seating area so if he got in that way I am sure it would...
Thank you! that's what I thought. I literally pieced together everything I did that day/night before I found the cat and I didn't open the trunk myself. It must have popped open (has happened a few times) and a neighbor shut it with the cat inside I would assume not realizing.
So what you both are saying is there is no way he got in other than when the trunk itself was open then. That is basically what I am asking. They can't like get in through spaces below the car etc. Thanks, that helps explain things at least!
This is sort of a random question, but the other day one of our outdoor stray cats somehow got into my car trunk. I found him in the morning. The car and trunk were locked. Aren't trunks sealed? Are there ways to get in? I know rodents can get in but I thought they usually gnawed through...
Thanks for all the responses, it really helps to look into options. I am going to see about feeding in another area. The only solace I have with this is knowing that the cats had regular feeding for 10 years (two of them) and the third for about 4 or 5. Which is more than a lot of stray cats...
That's a great idea. The one problem off hand is the space next door is private and then the other side is a creek. But I will explore more about this.
That's a good idea to check with local groups about perhaps a barn cat set up. I so wish I had a been at least given a 2 week window to help resolve the issue.
I know there isn't really any certain way to respond to this, but just checking if anyone else has been through this and can provide any wisdom. There are three strays that live in our area that we have been feeding. We have been mandated by property management to stop feeding them. How...
Thanks everyone for listening. It really helped to be able to come here and talk to like minded folk. It turned out to not happen. I never got a clear answer but I suspect there was some misunderstanding of some kind. The cats are still here. I tried bringing one inside to live during all...
I agree. It also occurred to me that people who don't know how this works might think a group doing TNR plan to keep the cats. They don't know that the R stands for return. Well trying to find out more information.
it is what I was talking about, I had heard of such situations. And how some cats are adopted into groups this way. I can see that, if handled properly could work for this group.
Yes I should be able to ask and get more information. Thank you all for listening. I am praying it is a genuine rescue group whom they perhaps gave a requested fee to and so they are coming out. Maybe they can be a group barn cat situation. I have heard that is something that is sometimes done.
My concern too, although I did think if this was not above board why would they tell me? They saw me and approached me. So it does make me think too it could be ok also. And if they were just going to dump them at a colony why wouldn't they just do it themselves? Anyway, I will try to find...
Yes thank you, I think that's a really good idea. I think since it happened so fast (literally was told by management as I was out taking out trash) I didn't have time to process it or respond much. I did offer immediately to help. So now I can follow up with that. For instance I would like...
