    Cat Not Passing Rubberband

My young cat seems to have eaten a rubberband at some point. The only reason I know is because I’ve spotted a bit hanging from her bum. She doesn’t seem able to pass it for reasons unknown. She’s eating and playing and pooping normally (I’ve been watching her poop for a couple of days now), but...

Cat Not Losing Weight After Food Reduced

I adopted a 12-year-old Siamese, Chris, a while back who weighed 17 lbs. Since I've had him, I've switched his diet entirely to wet food from the dry food his previous family gave him, and he's come down to 15.5 lbs. My vet says he should be at 10 to 11 lbs, and so I've now been reducing Chris's...

    Daily boiled chicken meal?

Are they stray cats that live outside, or are they indoor only. If they're stray they are probably supplementing their own diet with birds and other food that would complete their nutrition requirements. If they are indoor only, then it's definitely not a balanced meal and his cats will...

She's Lost Interest in Her Wet Food?

I third the suggestion of switching foods. My cats are on a rotation. I purchase 24-can boxes of three different wet foods, and once those are finished I switch out to the same amount of three new foods, and then back to the first, etc. This way my cats get a different can variety for each meal...

    Giving Away A Cat

There's only one question you need to answer: What is best for the cat? Someone I knew once adopted a kitten who was peeing all over the house and wouldn't use the litter box. This person worked full time. She would come home, try to care for the kitten, clean up after her, take her to the vet...

Horrible, what to do now? Is it all lost?

If someone hit the cat it's possible she's severely injured. That could be why she is reacting the way she is. She has also been traumatized by the abuse. Even one kick is enough to scare a baby kitten. You should keep doing what you're doing. It's going to take time to regain her trust. Also...

    Wife hates my cat

I don't think adding to your wife's anxiety about germs is the way to go here. Cats are clean animals and humans have been living with them for centuries. They have germs and spread germs, but they aren't generally dangerous germs--just life germs.

Help with new kitten and other cAt

A week and a half is nothing. My 12 year old cat still hisses if my kitten tries to play with him and it's been two months since I adopted the kitten. You need to be patient while your old cat is adjusting. She will hiss and growl at the new kitten and  at you. She's stressed, her territory has...

    My cat hates me

Cats don't hate, there's always some underlying reason behind their aggression. I agree with taking him to the vet as soon as possible. Can you not touch him because you're afraid or because he runs away? You could perhaps lure him into a cat carrier with some of his favorite food?

    Keeping kitten downstairs

If there's a door separating upstairs and downstairs, sure. Otherwise you may be out of luck. Most kittens eventually become excellent jumpers, and can jump over most obstacles you might use to block off a stairwell or doorway--for example, I tried a baby gate for my kitten. She had no problem...

    female cat in heat

The original poster is a young teenager, and I think they are  trying to learn--hence the questions.    @sunshiness  Which city in Pakistan? Eventually you're either going to have to get her spayed... I think I remember you posting about another cat that had kittens last summer? I lived in...

Traveling with my cat from Saudi Arabia to Washington DC

This is currently a whole thing with my parents, who are moving from Saudi Arabia to Boston. I believe you need, aside from the vaccination documents, an export license from the Department of Agriculture. There are branches in multiple cities, but you need the document to be from the branch that...

I love it, it really is a great tool for really thorough grooming.

    Male Cat Behaviour After Intamacy

Getting your cat fixed will not disable him, and in the long run it will increase his lifespan and his happiness. If your true concern is his health and he is an indoor cat, don't fix him. But if you actually don't want to get him fixed because you  want to see his babies, that's not a reason...

    Neighbor's Matted Cat

Odd problem here. I live in an apartment community, and one of my neighbors (whom I don't know and have never met) has a gorgeous gray and white cat with incredibly matted fur from the center of her torso down to her tail. It is horribly matted and she is a very fat cat. She's the sweetest...

Got a new kitten.. think shes pregnant.

Have you had an opportunity to take her to see a vet? You want to be sure it's not worms or something else that could be harming her, and that she truly is pregnant.

Kitten follows me everywhere.....is this normal?

My 7 month Siamese does the SAME THING. It's kind of infuriating because it's often a relief when she finally sleeps--she's got a hair trigger for play. But as soon as someone in the room gets up and starts walking, she breaks out of her sleep and is trotting after them, stumbling because she's...

Adopted Cat Won't Stop Meowing at night!

He's a Bengal--he is going to need a lot of stimulation. I have a vocal Siamese--he's just a chatterbox. He howls at night, but stopped doing it as much when he realized we wouldn't be getting up to respond. Now he does it a couple of times, and then joins someone in bed. We've also learned to...

New to raw, not planning to go all out

With regards to age, yes! I have found that kittens love raw meat--they will eat it with a gusto that you rarely see for even wet food. As long as you're giving them a balanced diet, they can start having raw as soon as they transition to solid food.
