    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

Well I think I found the reason why? He threw up this morning. 8 days is a long time but, he probably was yowling and waking up because he felt sick. I will up the dose and see if that makes any difference but I am feeling pesimisitic this morning.

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

It happened last year during the winter and at times it wouldn't make sense it was allergies. My theory again goes to his asthma so I have ordered his medications. When he was throwing up his asthma / watery eyes seemed to go away... I think it was because the throwing up helped clear phelm...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

My vet did end up replying. She did agree to it.. (the steroid) but I told her to hold off as I am having success with the egg yolk lectin. And I am, as of this morning there has been no throw up in a week. That is major. But now I have a new problem. My cat keeps waking up and crying...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

His stools aren't really that loose. I mean.. I am considering increasing the dose. Still no throw up (on day 6) but there were a couple of times this morning it looked like he might. So I don't want to get too cocky. I gave him a pro biotic and enzyme. During that 11 day streak where he...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

The real life vet hasn't responded so I am guessing that is a no. The good news is that the Egg Yolk Lectin / fasting may be working. It has been 5 days without a throw up... *** crossing fingers *** One reason I think I might be on to something is that his behavior has changed this week. He...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

Thank you I had a hard time finding anything. BTW, I lucked out today and posted on a feline Lymphoma site. One VERY nice person had already paid for an on line Veterinary Service and she offered to present my cat's case to the vet. I gave her all my records and the full ultrasound results...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

I emailed my vet to ask her for more gabapentin. (thinking I would use it to get a new vet) and my vet suggested that we do a GI function test (she says that is a blood test) does anyone know anything about that?

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

No not that far back. It started around summer of last year... 2021. He has had bouts of throwing up before (1x every 4 weeks or so) but not the constant 72 hour throw ups I don't know .. I have given him Pepcid AC and that has not worked. In addition I have set it up so he is getting food...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

I have tried them all. But the Egg Yolk Lectin will still be tried. It just arrived. I think fasting is a possibility. I had only one solid run where my cat didn't throw up. That was after he had an ultrasound. At first I thought that was because of lack of hair on his tummy. But as he still...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

I have seen it a few times now but here is the link. I am not saying I am going to do 24 hour fasts but I might see what happens if I give him the same food but just with more space between them...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

No not sure where the fur is coming from. I have taken to brushing him daily with the "brush glove" and the furminator. Not only that... his entire stomach has been shaved. (for an ultrasound). He is a short hair cat. I even vaccum daily and have hard woods. Not sure what is happening with the...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

Well, Buckwheat had a terrible night. First I think he did a real hair ball throw up. I had forgotten that hair ball throw ups have a "noise" to them. Hack hack hack...He also had zero liquid with this one. Typically his regular throw ups are mostly water, no noise -- just blurg - all at once...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

I am going to give that a try. I have done some research and lost of motility does seem to describe my cat. It is his own hair he is throwing up. Once again after a throw up... he had gone a few days largely happy and healthy. So, seems to me that whatever is happening has to build up...

Well he threw up again today. And today was massive. Tons of hair. Don't know what to think...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

You have been very helpful! It is nice sometimes to just bounce ideas off people. As you know, and I don't think this is a horrible thing.... I am not insanely in love with my cat the way some people might be. Of course I want him around but if it appears he is suffering even if I don't have a...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

Yes. I just don't know if it is worth it to know. And my gut is just telling me that he doesn't currently seem sick enough. Perhaps in 6 month things will be more clear. I also note he had a full elderly blood panel and nothing was amiss.

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

Sorry there must be some lost in the weeks break.. 1. I did get a detailed report, reporting on every single organ. Each organ has sentence report. The vast majority of those are perfectly normal. The only organ that was abnormal was his kidneys. But still nothing that screams CRF. 2. The...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

No. Never on hyperthyroid meds. I do plan on going to another vet in about 6 months from now. Though I don't hold out hope. I have had about 6 vets for my cat and I thought they all sucked. If I followed whatever they said without question my cat would likely be dead by now. 100% my cat has...

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

Yes that is what I mean. I have one vet I saw while the other one was out. They are in the same practice. They are backing each other up. I don't think that is a surprise. But both are in the same practice. Hyperthyroidism in cats: should we be routinely testing for early diagnosis?

    Newly Diagnosed Hyperthyroid

I feel like a detective. The thing is... I have tried all the remedies for hair balls... for some time now (September at least) Pumpkin, Cat Lax, other Hair ball remedies... and I never saw benefit. Hair is always involved in the throwing up but it is so slight. As if it is hair the cat...
