My male, neutered 5 year old kitty recently made a 1 year old female friend, who is not spayed. (She's his new roommate.) He actually got on top of her at one point and bit her on her scruff area, but he didn't spend too long there, and since she's continued to meow and wail in a different way...
We do take turns now that this has transpired. I was hoping that he'd use the pellet litter cause it is healthier for him, at least part of the time. He didn't have an issue with it before the clay litter showed up, so I was wanting to make it so he used the pellet. Would adding clay litter in help?
I moved into a new apartment recently and my cat has a cat friend now (he's 5, she's 1). I got him a new pine pellet litter after the move but before the new cat moved in. I mixed it in little by little with his usual odour buster clay litter, and he took to it well, using the litter like usual...
I'm moving into a new apartment with my kitty tomorrow, and have to put the cat litter in the bathroom (it's carpeted everywhere except the bathroom and kitchen). In my previous apartment the cat litter was also in the bathroom, and I had an issue with it tracking onto the tile floor and...
@Red Top Rescue - I don't quite know what you mean by nerves in their hair - are you speaking literally? I've never heard of something like that. It would almost seem fitting because he was just so incredibly panicked and freaked out being brushed at all towards his back end, I have no idea...
Yes I'm aware, Lux has flopped in the air like a fish before and wiggled out. I've put the training on hold for now because I have a lot going on in June in particular, and I hurt my arm a week ago and want to let it recover before I do much cat carrying.
Lux is a long-haired cat and since I've had him since he was 1.5 years, and he's soon to be 4. I haven't trimmed his bloomers even though they were badly in need of it, but yesterday because he was leaving poo bits everywhere (including my roommate's room) and smelling like poo and that was...
Me too, it is a relief when he does that cause sometimes I feel like a horrible person when he gets so scared outside.
I'll try the toy. I'm wondering too how often to bring him out. I read daily routine before but it can be hard for me because of work, weather, etc. Maybe a few times a week...
Ha. I dunno. I think maybe the carrying and letting him walk part of the way will be the least complicated and so maybe the best way. He should just eventually get used to being carried outside. I notice that even though he seems to get nervous when things happen outside he is also noting my...
That's a good point! If either place is scary then a place with actual wildlife might be a lot more worthwhile for him. I've read suggestions before about bringing your kitty to the park in a carrier. This way they have a safe place to retreat to outside. I wonder though if this would only make...
Thanks for all your responses!
I suppose it is what you would call a New York style...there are a few steps up, then there is the front door where the buzzer is, and through that is another door where the stairs to my apartment are. I'm on the second floor.
The problem with taking Lux out back...
Hi CatSite forum members. I would appreciate some advice on leash training my kitty, Lux. I live in a small apartment building, a walkup, and just outside the front door there is a relatively busy street. Not packed with people but there are cars rolling by mostly all the time, and trucks. I was...
So apparently the guardians are not allowed there because it causes the cats to be more tense and confused, and they could get upset with the guardian when they return home. But when they get back home to the guardian after being away in a weird place they are much happier. They're calmer when...
