You did what you thought was in Ginger's best interest, certainly not the wrong thing. You do not have to rush into a decision. Give yourself time to become informed and then you can decide what is best for Ginger. The cats discussed in this thread are mostly to the point where they can not eat...
Sadly, he was FeLV positive and the drooling and thinness was a result of that. I should have recognized it for what it was as lately I've had too much experience with that awful disease. I had him euthanized.
RIP pretty boy.
Is this breed subject to allergies?
This morning his eyes were noticeably swollen again and he was salivating excessively. He did not appear weak or unstable.
I treated him with fipronil (Frontline) last week, and there was no reaction at the time.
Should probably start a new thread, but I'm...
He does have blue eyes. One question about the color pointing... his paws are white. Would that be an indication that he is not a pedigree?
He's such a pretty & friendly guy, I might actually be able to find a home for him. Chipping is a rare thing around here, but I'll have him checked.
I...
Thank you so much for the explanation @ellieandwinnie !
I'm bringing topical flea/tic and eye meds tomorrow in hopes that he'll be back, but he's an intact male, so who knows. But if he's there I'll certainly check his eye color then.
The eyes may be blue, but I didn't notice. They were pink rimmed and looked a little inflamed, and I didn't even notice what color they were! I'll check tomorrow morning if he's back.
If they are blue, would that mean something?
He is a beauty and seems very sweet.
We're at fourteen months post-op having my Simon's remaining teeth extracted and he is doing great! No stomatitis recurrence yet!
On advise from my vet we started with a partial extraction, which helped for about 6 months. Don't even bother with the partial.
He's such a strong little trouper...
New guy at a feral feeder this morning. What does he look like?
He's certainly not feral and is very vocal. Announced his presence from within the weeds before presenting himself (typical of non-ferals). Thin, full of tics, infected eyes; normal stuff for a guy living the rough life.
I don't know what all you've tried, but I really, really like the chicken crumbles from Tractor Supply for use as cat litter (thanks to @bigperm20 for making me aware of this!).
As litter goes, it doesn't get much cheaper (50# for ~$17.00 at my local store), it's so light weight that it goes...
You are right, you are both so fortunate to have each other. There's just nothing like waking up to the sound of purring to put all things in perspective. I'm so glad you found her, and that she has helped you through tough times.
It's so funny that she tried to climb the templates! She's...
Those are very nice shelves. They are small, so I would certainly put them no more than 5" apart as the company advised. I am sure she will love the design you have in mind for the shelves. Especially as they allow her to get from one tree to the next without a paw having to touch the floor...
She is beautiful!! I can see why people can't resist petting her. It sounds like she doesn't run from people, or try to avoid them, so her preference would probably be the closet in the hall, where she can see more of what's going on.
What type of shelves were you going to put in? Zig-zag type...
That is the wonderful thing about The Cat Site! It was someone here that originally told me how to obtain Program when they stopped making it available here a couple of years ago.
