    Milk!

When I was a kid back in the 60s, giving your cat a bowl of milk was de rigeur... very accepted and most everyone did it.   I remember spending many times watching the cats of my childhood happily lap up a full bowl of milk and walk away satisfied.  Giving them water was unheard of.   They never...

I lost my cat 4 days ago

Yeah - me too.   I miss my old girl a lot.   Over 6 months and she crosses my mind every day - no kidding.  Yesterday I even found pieces of the pine litter she would kick out in the corner of the room.   Last week went thru a box of old photos from when I still had a film camera and found a...

Feeding extremly picky cat with IBD

No problem.... just trying to help.   I understand your cat is not critical now.   That is why I was suggesting that now might be a good time to learn as much as you can about this disease.   The nature of IBD/IBS is that it lulls you into a false sense of security where your cat might seem fine...

Feeding extremly picky cat with IBD

Absolutely.   When my vet incorrectly prescribed prednisone it did absolutely nothing for my cat.   I kept calling them and they kept saying I should see a dramatic change in her symptoms within a day or two.   That never happened and she passed on not too much later.    So with Prednisone she...

    Multiple issues. Guidance appreciated

The person who owns Blue Buffalo made his money in Sobe drinks before that.   He frequently marketed Sobe with misleading claims about its health benefits until the FDA  put a stop to it.   When he first started out it was in the ad dept for products like Tang and Kool-Aid.   This guy`s whole...

Feeding extremly picky cat with IBD

Also, the last thing anybody should do is try to cram when their pet is very ill.   First of all, it stresses you and the pet.   We see it here all the time with scared owners asking for advice when they should have prepared in advance for the eventual day.   Next it will help you communicate...

Feeding extremly picky cat with IBD

Right.... I didn`t say use subq`s or B12 immediately.   But you should understand what they are and what its for as some day you might need them.    It is better to be prepared ahead of time so you can have an educated discussion with your vet. Good luck.

Feeding extremly picky cat with IBD

You should start to research what a sub-q is and how to give it.  Also research B-12 shots. Its a frustrating disease.   As for food my only recommendation is raw or reconstituted freeze-dried. http://ibdkitties.net/ Good luck

    What's going on with Petsmart?

Totally agree.  They are much less expensive than going to a regular vet for wellness checkups.   They are OK too for small problems like eye infections.   But anything serious or chronic I wouldnt go there and see a specialist instead.   The vets tend to be very busy there so they dont spend...

Swelling under eye. Vet said tooth infection but....

Thank you @stacy_s  for posting an update on your kitty.  I know how difficult it was to do.  It is amazing how often we get  signs from above and your story about it snowing was definitely one of them.... what were the odds?    15 years is a long life ....  take solace.... I read many threads...

    What's going on with Petsmart?

It depends why the investors bought them. Used to be the real estate was worth more than the business so companies would get bought and the property flipped. That's not the case nowadays with real estate depressed so likely they will remain in business.

    Greasy Coat!

You could bump him with @Chromium Blues  .    My cat had oily/greasy fur at one point but it was due to the increased chicken fat in her diet.

    Devastating Diagnosis

Im really sorry for your loss.  Apollo is resting in a better place and without pain.   Thanks for giving him a loving home - there are many cats not so lucky as he in that regard.   You did your best and there was nothing else could be done.    Hope your heart heals soon in the coming days.  ...

    can cats eat guppies?

I am sure your local pet shop would take them off your hands and likely give you something for your time & trouble.   At least that is what I did when I had an explosion of white mice.   At the time, the thought of feeding them to my cat never crossed my mind..... poor cat.

I am deeply sorry to hear this and cant quite put together any words that will ease the shock and pain you must be feeling.   However at this time you need to focus on being strong for yourself and Apollo so you will be able to do whatever is necessary and to think clearly.    Easier said than...
